"The demonstrations in the German colony endanger the country" • Mor Shaal from Haifa does not stop

(haipo) – Mor Shaal, 38, from Haifa, began her social activity by helping street dwellers. For the past five years, she has been working diligently to rehabilitate street dwellers, and even founded an association dedicated entirely to this purpose. Shaal says that thanks to her activity, 15 street dwellers have been able to rehabilitate, reintegrate into society, and lead a normal lifestyle. She also emphasizes that thanks to her activity, the way the public perceives street dwellers has changed, awareness of them has increased, and so has concern for them.

"I realized something was wrong"

In the past year, she has begun to take an active part in the demonstrations taking place in the German colony in Haifa. Mor says that at the first demonstration she attended, on 29/5/24, she was surprised to discover that the demonstrators, most of them Israeli Arabs, were carrying signs and chanting slogans such as "With blood and spirit, we redeemed Palestine." "I realized that something was wrong," she says. According to her, two soldiers who were there explained to her the meaning of the chants and noted that they expressed messages of a future takeover.

Advertising on social networks and recruiting supporters

Aal began documenting the demonstrations and posting the videos on social media. As a result, a protest arose against the chants that were heard, and the police even intervened and dispersed the demonstrations. Following the documentation, a confrontation arose between her and one of the protesters, who she said hurled harsh statements at her, such as "more and more soldiers dying" and "a country of murderers."

She later contacted the CEO of the "Tselmo" organization, Shai Glick, and following him, she established a dedicated WhatsApp group for opponents of these demonstrations. Today, the group has about 500 members, who come to the demonstrations to protest in return.

Reveal the identity of the protesters

Aal realized that more than counter-demonstrations, it was important to her to show the public who was behind the protests. She began taking close-up photos of the demonstrators, sometimes without flags or identification marks, and posting the footage on social media. Aal says she tried to talk to Arab demonstrators, but most of them refused to cooperate, and sometimes even cursed at her. “I ask questions to understand why they are protesting, but I usually don’t get answers. The Jews who are protesting with them, on the other hand, explain that they are worried about the children in Gaza or believe that ending the fighting will bring peace,” she says.

"The people of Israel forget"

"Such demonstrations endanger the country," she says. "After October 7, there is no place for such a thing in our country. There was a moment when everyone was silent, but over time these voices return, because the people of Israel forget." Sha'al believes that the protesters are "testing the waters" and trying to understand how far the boundaries of freedom of expression can be pushed. "It is especially worrying that Israeli Arabs, who enjoy all the good things in the country and the affirmative action in their favor, support the Gazans and issue calls against the state."

'Finger in the Eye' in the theater hall

In addition to her activity in the demonstrations, Shaal attended the play "The Bathroom Queen" by Hanoch Levin, which was presented at Beit HaGefen, with the participation of actress Mona Hua. Shaal mentions that Hua is credited with harsh statements, including her claim that "they did not rape or behead," referring to the October 7 massacre. The play, Shaal says, included mockery of the IDF and Jewish heritage, and there were several times during the play in which actors held imaginary weapons and "shot" at the audience. "It's called taking a finger and sticking it in the eye," she says.

Shaal's anger grew until she turned to the actress and shouted at her that "her place is in Gaza." As a result, they tried to remove her from the hall, and she was eventually removed from the venue.

Documentation that changes policy

Sha'al emphasizes that posting her videos on social media leads not only to public reactions but also to pressure on decision-makers. She says that, following her recordings, many citizens are appealing to Knesset members, mayors, and media figures to act to prevent demonstrations and displays of this kind. "We can't continue to act as if October 7th didn't happen. The country has changed," she concludes.

  1. Strength to those who love Israel who are fighting the terror that is right under our noses and constitutes the more urgent danger. There is no coexistence in a city that boasts about this, it is a blind eye and deliberate ignorance in order to blind us and then we will wake up when it is too late.

  2. Why are my comments not being published??

I wrote to thank Mr. Shael,
For her help to the street cleaners, and for her demonstrations against the Arab demonstrations.
And thanks to Michal Gruber for publishing the article.

  3. Thank you, Mor Shaal, for your work for the street's cause.

And about the demonstrations against the Arab occupation attempts.
The Arabs live in the State of Israel, the only democracy in the Middle East, enjoy its pleasures, and want to destroy it.
And thanks to Michal Gruber for bringing the article.

  4. Thank you, Mor Shael, for your work on behalf of the street,
And for your activity against the Arab demonstrations.
The Arabs who protest against our country, in which they live and enjoy, the only democratic country in the Middle East, are ungrateful.

  5. Wow wow wow….we didn’t get carried away even a little….😅😅😅😅😅 Small protests that ‘endanger’ the very existence of an entire country….wow! 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅

  6. Matar is right. There were protests in 2021 too, but it got worse. They hit the downtown area. The protesters took to the streets on Haginim Avenue and in Amatsam, hitting people and businesses. It is not okay to underestimate it, starting with small things and ending with terrible violence. The mayor should also express his opinion and request to the police.

  7. May God protect and bless you, Mor.

A righteous heroine, a gift to the Jewish people and humanity. Esther, the modern Queen.
    Love you

  8. The mayor allows it, so why would they stop it?
    Shame, a mark of disgrace.
Demonstrations should not be allowed and must be stopped quickly.

  9. All the best and may your strength be with you, Mor Shaal.
Thank you for all your activities, for the sake of the street,
And also for our sake – by exposing the Arabs' desire to destroy us.
And thank you and the other protesters, against the Arab demonstrations…

  10. It all begins and ends with the horribly stupid leftist legal system and continues with the character of the city of Haifa, which is predominantly Ashkenazi and leftist, and will vote in the municipal elections for a cat or dog from the street and not for a right-wing Eshkolot man and the latest and craziest mayor as an example.

  11. How long will affirmative action continue?
    To spoil for veterans.
The inequality between donors and the state.
and those who just ride on the benefits without making any contribution to the state.

  12. For years they've been sitting there protesting scum and the mayor certainly doesn't do anything, but in parking tickets he's strong, disgusting, and even a protester from Haifa and the entire German colony suffer shame and disgrace in disgrace, and even his Jewish protesters have learned nothing in disgrace with Israel Hai.

  13. The mainstream media will continue to turn a blind eye and not deal with this issue. They will continue to use their channels to hype up Yosef Haddad, for example (who is probably as popular and representative in their society as Ofer Kassif is popular and representative in ours).
And on the ground, the state and the legislature have failed and are not intervening, and the influx is one-sided, almost exclusively to "our" cities and towns. Is it not clear to anyone that Israel is de facto becoming a binational state?

  14. Why is this newspaper racist? Who funds you – Kohelet Forum? It is impossible for a Haifa local to be apolitical or at least reflect the positions of the city's residents.

    • Where have you been all these years while most writers/commentators on the site have been echoing the various leftist protests?
Did you suddenly wake up? Light fasting.

    • You are an important and sane voice in a crazy world. Come and succeed.

    • Another zero talking. When did you look at yourself in the mirror, a miserable loser like you?

  15. In a normative country, these protesters would be arrested, stripped of their citizenship and given a transfer. Besides, where are the residents of Haifa who see that their city is holding demonstrations supporting terrorism and sit quietly? Haven't you learned anything? Don't let them take over the city, don't show fear, it's time for them to be afraid.

  16. That a true Zionist, smart and understanding of reality.
Only those who live in mixed cities understand the country's most pressing issue in the coming decades, compared to elected officials, most of whom live in the center of homogeneous cities and whose attention is constantly directed to Syria, Europe, and Qatar.
On the other hand, the attempt to silence the state, for example by enacting laws prohibiting demonstrations or the flying of Palestinian flags, in my opinion, is detrimental to the purpose of information.
On the contrary, we must look reality in the face and show its dimensions instead of lying to ourselves that we live in a simulated coexistence, in order to create solutions. Perhaps internal separation, for example.
Thank you too, Michal, for following burning issues that the media is ashamed to deal with.

  17. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs are in fairy tales. The Arabs in Haifa are full of hatred towards the Jews and towards the state that pampers their asses. It's time to deprive them of their rights and move them over the fence. Peace be with them in fairy tales.

  18. You are 100% right. The only question I would ask these Arabs who are proud of their Arab nation is if they were willing to live in one of the Arab countries in the region, maybe in Syria today or Jordan or Egypt. And another question is would they be given a platform to express their opinion in one of these countries? The answer is rhetorical. They would not be the ones living today.

  19. Netanyahu is guilty, please contact him, peace and quiet, whether you like it or not, whoever does not
It's fine if he's welcome to leave.

  20. Anti-Semitic people should be expelled to Gaza, and whoever supports Gaza should be expelled as terrorists.

  21. It's not just about peace in the country, it's also about our neighborhoods where Arab neighbors feel like they own our streets and buildings, and the situation is already getting out of control!
Of course, the municipality is weak and the inspectorate is doing nothing.
Like in Kibbutz Galuyot 89, where there is a garage under the building!!! There are no fences and everything is allowed

  22. Unfortunately, the coexistence in Haifa is fake. Trust in the Arabs was lost a long time ago, and it's true that not all of them. But we don't need to turn our backs.
Basically, we avoid going to Arab restaurants or buying from them. Our money will go to Jewish-hostile purposes!

  23. Restrictions on freedom of speech and assembly endanger the country. There is no need for another dictatorship in the region.

  24. You are a queen!! Keep doing what you are doing without giving up! I wish there were more good and brave people like you today

  25. Good luck. I'm sure the backlash is from Israel haters who are not Jews or those who unfortunately have Stockholm Syndrome and don't distinguish between a friend and an enemy. Israel will never lie!

  26. Hate speech, racism, and silence endanger the security of the country. It is permissible to criticize the country out of concern and love for this place.

    • There is a difference between criticizing and calling for the destruction of the state.
      Wake up

  27. Mor is right. Kudos to her for her work on behalf of the street dwellers and for the IDF soldiers and the security of the state! Haifa is changing its face and we need a less inclusive policy from the municipality, because this is not about freedom of expression but about wild incitement and encouragement of acts of terrorism!

  28. The protests endanger the country, how exactly? If anything, the impotent Israeli government and the godfather who heads it endanger the country.

    • Reading comprehension, you didn't read the article, the protesters are protesting against the country in which they live.
Show them in Arab countries, then they will really behead them and rape their wives, as Nazi Hamas did.
And the left still supports them??? How exactly and for what??

    • You're right. Stopping the protests and the violence of the police and the citizens who oppose these protests is what endangers the country and the "democracy" that supposedly exists here.

  29. She is absolutely right and her posts resonated all weekend on social media. It is impossible for the Haifa community to give in to this in the name of freedom of expression.

    • It's like destroying the state and Jewish identity, that's what all these protests are doing.
I have not seen in Iran, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, or any Arab country any support or condemnation for what the Nazi Hamas did to us.
What I did see was widespread support from the left for oppressing Israel and selling its land.
      shame on you

  30. Maybe for us if we didn't internalize what happened to us on 7/10.
If demonstrations are allowed and shown. Against the IDF and the State of Israel… There will probably be another 7/10 before they wake up from their slumber…

    • There will be another Netanyahu massacre, only with Bibi continuing to pour money into them and ignoring the warnings he has received all these years, certainly not because of demonstrations with a hundred people who annoy a few racist Kahanists.

    • The Arabs of Israel are ungrateful and dangerous. They will accept anything and sacrifice anything for revenge on us.

  31. Don't underestimate. I ask you to take it seriously. We've already been through riots in Haifa. A mixed city. There's tension in the air. Haifa has always been through riots. Before the establishment of the state, my grandmother was the first woman to be murdered in Haifa, in the riots of 1936. The British ruled and did not address the persecution of the Arabs and their Jewish neighbors.
