(haipo) – It’s happening again: Panoramic mirrors, designed to help drivers exit parking lots where the field of vision is limited, are disappearing. The phenomenon is happening in various neighborhoods throughout the city, and this time, in addition to Cowders Street and other streets in the Carmel area, Petal Street and Sha’ar Hagai Street in the old city of Rome are also joining the list.
A city resident, who contacted the newspaper to warn about the phenomenon, describes a dangerous reality:
"Recently, someone has been coveting the safety mirrors placed at the exits from parking lots to main roads. Just last week, mirrors were stolen at the exit of a house on Harel Street, at the exit of Petal Street, and at the exit of a parking lot on Sha'ar Hagai Street. This is a real danger to life - drivers exit without seeing the oncoming traffic, especially when it comes to electric vehicles, which are particularly quiet, which increases the risk of accidents. I hope the municipality will act on the issue as soon as possible."

Panoramic mirrors play a critical role in traffic safety, especially in areas where the field of vision is limited by buildings, trees or parked vehicles. They allow drivers to see oncoming traffic and prevent accidents, especially when exiting secondary roads onto main roads. Their disappearance creates a tangible danger for drivers and pedestrians alike.
The Haifa Municipality has previously stated that, according to Ministry of Transportation guidelines, panoramic mirrors are not approved for use in public spaces. However, the municipality usually returns mirrors that have disappeared or been removed – whether as a result of accidents or vandalism.
Haifa Municipality has not yet given a response.
Even when leaving the Orot gas station on Ben Yehuda Street, the mirror disappeared.
In Kibbutz Galuyot 89, a garage works under the building!!!
Dozens of complaints to the police and the municipality didn't help, so who cares how many mirrors?!!
Nowadays, when every second home has cameras, what's the problem with capturing the license plate number or the thief's face? It's just a question of will, because if a police officer or officer lived in the area, the thief would have been sitting in jail awaiting sentencing.
This is not just a recent rule.
For many years, the mirror in Ramat Tishbi at the intersection of Beit El and Ovadiya has been stolen.
You will find them in the Palestinian territories.
Why aren't the entire city served by city hall cameras?!
There must be a municipal supervision and enforcement center, staffed 24 hours a day, as a kind of municipal guard against crimes of this type and more serious ones.
This is something inexpensive that is definitely technologically possible and exists in other places in the world.
Here is more proof that this mayor doesn't care at all about the well-being of the residents.
* Networking with cameras.
They steal on a daily basis from the same place 10 minutes after putting on new mirrors, and city enforcement can be under the mirror while it is being stolen and not notice, they are busy with the municipality's ultimate goal: reports, reports and more reports.
The offices of the Ministry of Transportation do not need panoramic mirrors because they are disconnected from reality on the roads.
The municipality will continue to install safety aids.
May God bless you……
20% of the population is responsible for 80% of the crime
That's the whole story in all areas of crime.
The Swedes steal everything.
The Ministry of Transportation is making a big mistake, especially in Haifa.
Unparalleled folly
At the time, I asked them to install it at the exit from Al-Salapim Street, where there is a situation where the option to turn left is hidden.
And the answer was that in Haifa they don't install mirrors on the street...
Correct report, Samar Ood. Have a good week.
They should move to installing them from above and not from the ground. A tall pole in the shape of a spire from which the mirror descends, and along the pole are metal 'spikes' like those on electricity poles. And if you really want to be safe, attach cameras. That way they are installed too low.
Install a sensor detector like Apple's for luggage at Ben Gurion Airport. Hahaha, it's a criminal who steals or destroys them, endangering human lives in an accident!
