(haipo) – The story of Dr. Dalia Bar Maayan, a doctor from Haifa, first published inhaipo, sparked outrage – in just two years, Dr. Bar Maayan fell victim to two robberies. The last incident occurred in January, and its publication led to a flood of inquiries from other residents who had experienced similar incidents – in which they were robbed and mugged, whether in the middle of the street or while riding a bus.
The feeling that comes up again and again in conversations with residents is one of fear and helplessness. The question everyone hears is "Where are the police?"
The police, for their part, are closing the cases with record-breaking speed, on the grounds of – note: “lack of public interest.”

When Dr. Bar Maayan arrived at the police station to file a complaint, she hoped that perhaps this time justice would be done. But this week, when she received a letter in response to her complaint, she discovered that within just one day it had been decided to close the case. The reason, as stated, was "lack of public interest."
If there is one thing that comes out clearly in conversations with residents, it is their sense that their personal security is at an all-time low. Residents describe a feeling of abandonment, lack of protection, and a lack of trust in the body that is supposed to protect them.
If so, on what basis is the police's determination that such a case constitutes a lack of public interest?
This is when dozens of residents experience such incidents, thefts, break-ins, robberies, etc., which are accompanied by fear and helplessness.
So perhaps there is room to clarify: If there is an issue that is of particular interest and even disturbing to the public, it is this issue. Israel Police, for your information.
Dr. Bar Maayan does not spare criticism and says firmly: "I am not surprised. The police are behaving like an organization of criminals, just like their convicted minister and the criminal. How can a case be closed in one day? I brought them all the details on a platter of gold - and in the end? It was closed due to lack of interest from the public. What exactly did they check? What did they investigate and what did they do? The public is actually interested! The public wants to know who is protecting them, how the police are working to catch the criminals, and not how they are closing cases as if it were a marginal bureaucracy. There is a group of professional criminals here who are committing thefts in broad daylight, and the police are not lifting a finger."
Many testimonies that reached the "Hai Pa" news system describe a recurring pattern: lack of response from the police, closing cases with extreme haste, and zero deterrence. The scourge of pickpocketing in the city has become a real phenomenon, but enforcement officials are acting as if they have given up in advance.
If Haifa residents lose their sense of security and have no faith in the police - who are we supposed to trust?
There was no response from the Israel Police.
And in addition, city enforcement on new jeeps does nothing except report them.
In Kiryat Motzkin it's the same.
There were 3 daylight burglaries in my building in a period of less than six months.
The Zebulun police decided to close the cases due to lack of public interest.
The same thing happens in Kiryat Motzkin. My building had 3 break-ins in about six months in broad daylight.
The Zebulun police decided to close the cases due to lack of interest.
Outrageous message. Lack of interest in the public. Honestly? Since when is a private person a public person? I don't pay taxes as a public person, I pay as a private person and therefore I am entitled to protection. When I walk down the street and fall, am I a public person or a private person? Their answer is completely unacceptable to us, neither as private citizens nor as a public person. We must stop using this outrageous and especially disparaging phrase about the public!
When the police don't want to work, then this is the familiar style of lack of interest in the public. That's why it looks like this. And come on, it's not from today. The lack of interest in the public has unfortunately existed for 20 years!!!@
Great police 💪
They handle things they have the ability to influence.
Instead of wasting time and resources on petty thieves who are already being released.
Shame police
A police force of criminals in uniform
Political police... superficial... they arrived at the Yemeni airport after an hour... I wonder why???
I wonder what the mayor and his senior team think about the issue? The police are not alone. The city administration needs to act. The safety of the residents is also its responsibility.
I would love to know.
What is the municipality doing about this?
