(haipo) - With the entry of Mayor Yona Yahav into the current term, many residents of Haifa expected to see his promise fulfilled: within 90 days of taking office, he would fulfill his promise, and the wild boars would disappear from public areas and neighborhoods in Haifa.
Initially, many reported that they felt a change, with almost no pigs seen in public spaces, a significant improvement was evident in the area. The giant pigs have indeed disappeared and are no longer seen in most neighborhoods of the city.
However, in recent times, for about two months, it seems that the presence of the pigs is becoming more and more noticeable and they are once again seen on the streets.
Last month, it was reported in Haifa that after a period of significant decline in the number of wild boars in neighborhoods and public areas, residents are reporting their reappearance in areas where they had not been seen for months.
This trend has raised questions and concerns: Is this a renewed increase in the number of wild boars and what does this mean?
This month (February 25) there has been another increase in the presence of pigs in the city, with part of the trend being reflected in reports of pigs regularly visiting certain areas as we knew in the not-so-distant past. A resident living on Kadima Street in Kabbir shares in a conversation with Lipa: "The pigs visit our garden every day. They look for tubers underground, find everything, and also knock over everything in their path. I thought Yahav promised that there would be no pigs 100 days after he was elected, didn't he?"

Another resident says that the pigs have been visiting the Kawdres area for several weeks, scattering garbage on the street. "We went to the municipal hotline and reported it," she adds.
Another resident notes that "the large pigs are no longer visible, because they were eliminated, and now smaller pigs occasionally come up from the wadis and discover the urban food. They also need to be taken care of. It's routine care."
Are we witnessing a renewed increase in the number of wild boars in Haifa? And the big question – what is the most effective way to deal with this problem, or to maintain results?
The Haifa Municipality responded: ""The number of calls to the municipal hotline regarding wild boars is significantly lower today than in the past. However, the Haifa Municipality continues to take all measures to reduce the phenomenon."

If someone was stupid enough to choose Yahav because of the promise to eliminate the wild boar phenomenon within three months, which is not possible anywhere in the world, I have an island off the coast of Jerusalem to sell them for a quarter of the price.
As long as Haifa does not adapt itself to humans, the animals will languish in it. There are no crossings between neighborhoods, construction is taking place on public areas, there are no modern playgrounds with shade in Haifa, parks and parks that were invested in are neglected due to safety deficiencies that are not related to reality (the section between Taanach and Netiv Chen was probably built during the Mitzna era with a large investment and has not been opened to this day), it takes too long to repair a collapsed wall (the bricklayers have been working on repairing a wall for 3 years and there is no end in sight), large projects are launched and do not serve the public sufficiently (how many Haifa residents ride the cable car?), the neighborhood committees have no power (compare Neve Sha'anan to Nesher, between Kiryat Haim and the other neighborhoods - illogical gaps)...
Jonah sold the public a story that he would destroy all the refunds. Hahaha…
Just persist in systematically thinning out wild boars and jackals.
The pigs will now multiply in huge numbers. And as a bonus, these jackals. Why will they multiply? Because as soon as they feel threatened, they multiply like swarms of ants.
This is really disgusting. The Haifa Municipality must find a solution to the problem of wild animals in the city of Haifa immediately.
This is really worrying again.
