The danger to public health.
It is clarified that you are required to correct the remaining deficiencies detailed in the inspection report dated 19.2.25, including demarcating a storage area for dry goods from restaurant guests and improving ventilation in the kitchen for the summer, and you must operate the buffet in accordance with the laws, regulations, and uniform specifications applicable to this business. (Hai Pa) – The Ministry of Health issued an immediate closure order for the "Humos Ziv" cafeteria in Haifa due to serious sanitary deficiencies. The Ministry of Health issued today (3.2.25) an administrative closure order for the "Humos Ziv" business at 54 Trumpeldor Street in Haifa, following serious findings that emerged during a sanitary inspection conducted at the location. The order, signed by Dr. Yehonatan Dubnov, deputy Haifa district physician, went into effect immediately.
The main deficiencies found in the audit:
🔹 Improper handling of beef and poultry – meat and poultry were processed at the location without refrigerators and dedicated work areas, which creates a risk of cross-contamination.
🔹 Dirty refrigerators and improperly stored food – Uncovered falafel paste was found in the beverage refrigerator, along with mold buildup and severe dirt. Also, ready-to-serve food was stored alongside raw chicken products without the required separation.
🔹 Poor sanitation conditions – the kitchen equipment was rusty and broken, the refrigerators were worn out, the infrastructure was damaged, and the floor was incomplete.
🔹 Lack of cleaning and separation equipment – poultry was moved back and forth in the kitchen for coating schnitzels, which caused an increased risk of bacterial growth.
🔹 Failure to maintain proper food temperature – Some of the food was stored outside of refrigerators, including French fries intended for frying and ground beef.
🔹 Lack of hot water for the vegetable washing station, which impairs their cleaning.
🔹 Improper storage in the warehouse – some of the food is open and lying on the floor.
In light of the immediate health danger posed to customers, the Ministry of Health acted to issue the order before a hearing was held.
According to the order, the business must be completely closed from the moment it is received, including ceasing food preparation, bringing in and out of merchandise, and any other activity on site.
From the order:

I came to buy a box of hummus from you, I was 70 ajr short, you refused, I say a lot, how do you say "sweetie"? There's karma.
The deficiencies of the restaurants in general and this one in the current article are so bad and indicate a disregard for cleanliness, sanitation, food. Access to food in general. It is a great shame that the restaurants that are caught are reopened so quickly. Because I am not at all sure that the case has been internalized and that lessons are being learned. The treatment is excellent in closing the restaurants immediately, but it is superficial and not in-depth over time. Maybe we need legislation for this, but the neglect and disdain for a food place that is the basis for diseases after you, for hospitalizations, for lost work days, costs us all much more than closing a restaurant every day.
Some comments from…
Dear restaurant manager, there is no smoke without fire, be larger than life, know how to take responsibility and say sorry, I was wrong, I will learn and improve from now on, don't worry, the people of Israel have a short memory.
Do you think I would go eat at a business that disregarded the health of its customers? Not at Brown's, nor at any other business that closed, even if it "ostensibly" fixed the deficiencies.
It's just unavailable, they should share the report on what needs to be fixed before they open up again...

Everyone can smear him with bad comments.
I live in Tivon, ride my bike every Friday to get hummus, eat everything good in the restaurant, meet other friends who come to eat, and ride back to Tivon. And I've never, ever had an upset stomach.
Do you think we're screwed if there was a problem with the food?
I have been eating there for many, many years. The food at Shani's, especially the hummus and schnitzels, is wonderful. I have never had an upset stomach after eating at his place. I hope he returns and the restaurant reopens and I promise to continue eating there.
Excellent hummus, excellent food. A real and delicious workers' restaurant. I've been eating there with my father for many years and it's always fresh and served with love. I'll go back there as soon as it opens again. I hope that if there are any shortcomings, they will be fixed soon. You can find shortcomings anywhere.
Thank you to the Ministry of Health teams who protect us when the owners of such places disregard our health.
It's sad to read comments that blame the "system" as the reason why restaurant owners don't maintain the minimum required in terms of our health and are mainly busy selling as many dishes as possible at any price.
In a civilized country, they would take away their license.
I have eaten there before and will not go back again.
Hummus only at Abu Yosef, they don't have them.
Permanently close the place...ASAP
Poor hygiene conditions characterize many restaurants. Unfortunately, they close, open after cleaning refrigerators and immediately return to poor practices: food standing open, open bins that attract pests, skimping on dish soap, no cleaning of preparation surfaces between types of food, poor ventilation, poor refrigeration. Attempts to cut corners and save money are always in this regard.
The best and most delicious hummus and food in Haifa.
(We eat at his place regularly with our friends in the police force and family).
Of course, this is an attempt to damage it as a very successful business.
It is run by a very hardworking and successful person!
I have no doubt that he will be able to overcome the "trap" that is trying to harm him.
Is an audit by the Ministry of Health, which is required by law, an attempt to harm you?
I am one of the most sensitive and critical people when it comes to food. Although I was unable to visit the place last year, for years I bought food there for the weekend and their food was the freshest I have come across in all the stores in Haifa!
Danny is a very diligent and serious person, I am sure that even if deficiencies are found, they will be addressed very quickly.
I wonder if, like in our scene in front of the Sports Hall, someone will be "smeared" and the order will expire after 3 days?
Indeed. Miraculously, the serious deficiencies will be corrected within days. And peace will return to the glorious hummus.
There are other hummus in our country that are truly disgusting, of the highest order.
Excellent hummus, welcoming staff.
I have never, in many years, experienced discomfort.
Looking forward to its reopening!
Yael
Danny, what happened to you?
Or did it happen when you were abroad?
As a regular customer of Hummus Ziv, I hope Danny will quickly fix the problem and get back to making his delicious hummus.
I would like to point out that we have been eating and enjoying there for many years and have never experienced any side effects.

Error correction: Please do not approach this place.
Garbage. Let him be sacrificed. The Ministry of Health did well.
Apparently the restaurant owner is writing comments for himself...at least change the wording to "me and my family."
You don't eat for free in such a dirty and polluted place.
Garbage...don't come near
True, I didn't have any problems there either. Maybe the Ministry of Health has different criteria. In any case, it's always good to learn and improve.
I've eaten there 1000 times, including taking home salads, hummus and all sorts of things, I or my family have never had even a stomach ache afterwards. It seems that someone narrow-minded or with vested interests decided to harm the place. Too bad…
Kudos to the watchful eyes of the Ministry of Health. There are still many restaurants in the area that don't exactly maintain hygiene. May they continue to do so in order to protect the public.
right
I usually eat there and also buy hummus and other salads.
My family and I have never had any problems with the food from this restaurant.
Hahaha, some of the flattering comments are repeated...to the owner of the place: less, diversify a little, hahaha
In short, a disgusting place, horrible hummus, haven't been there in years. Not surprised by the news.
