(haipo) – Haifa’s flea market, one of the oldest and most authentic markets in the country, is being renovated with a colorful and inspiring urban art display. Two public buildings in the market – a shelter and a restroom building – have been transformed into spectacular works of art thanks to unique murals painted on them.
The paintings were created by Haifa-based multidisciplinary artist Aline Mor, known for her spectacular works that adorn Haifa's urban landscape. The paintings draw inspiration from the authentic variety of items sold at the market, incorporating imagery such as vintage chairs, vases, and historic wooden shutters.

The project was produced by the Public One company, and is part of a broader trend of creating art in public spaces. Another project that joins Mor's works that proudly decorate many walls throughout Haifa, which have already become an integral part of the city's landscape. Among other things, her works can be seen at 45 Hanamal Street, 57 Ha'atzmaut Street, and 21 Sirkin Street.
The project to create the display was produced as part of a large-scale branding process for the flea market complex based on in-depth research conducted by Haifa designer Avishai Dotan, owner of the Dotan-Lidji studio. The results of the research led to the creation of a new graphic language for the market, including a logo, directional signs, and dedicated pages on social networks – Instagram and Facebook.

Haifa's flea market, located on the slopes of the historic Wadi Salib neighborhood, is considered one of the most authentic and unique entertainment destinations in the country. The market has been operating continuously for over 150 years, and is considered a magnet for visitors from all over the country thanks to its historic buildings, wide variety of vintage and antique items, and the famous vendor market that takes place there every Saturday.

Tzachi Terno, Director of the Projects Department at the Municipality: "The Haifa Flea Market is a unique gem in the local landscape, by virtue of being the only true and authentic flea market in Israel. The Haifa Municipality is working to make the complex more accessible, inviting and friendly for visitors, as part of a large-scale branding and marketing process, which aims to preserve the unique character of the place and make it a leading tourist destination. This is a first step, which will be followed by additional improvements, which will ensure that the market continues to be a center of attraction, a cultural experience and an artistic attraction."
Tzachi Terno was convicted in 2010 of fraud and breach of trust for falsely registering in corporate documents in the King of Parking Lot donations affair as Y.Y.'s campaign manager.
