When will the Kishon Park and Fishing Port be accessible to everyone? The public demands public transportation!

(haipo) – Many residents of Haifa and the surrounding area hoped that with the launch of Egged's rapid transit line (line 100), which connects the Bay Center to Haifa Airport, another line would come – the addition of bus stops at the Kishon Anchorage and the Fishing Port, areas that have been highly sought after by the public for years. When contacting the Haifa Municipality on the subject, a disappointing answer was received: "There is not enough demand."

Demand for a solution that is delayed

For many years, residents of the area have been requesting the addition of bus stops at the Kishon Anchorage and the Fishing Port, areas that attract tourists and families. Accessible public transportation to these sites could be an effective solution not only for casual visitors, but also for the many families who do not own a private car. Despite the clear and ongoing demand, it appears that the request has not yet been realized and currently remains a distant dream.

With the start of daily flights by Air Haifa to Larnaca, Eilat, and Athens, Line 100 was launched – a fast, direct line between the Gulf Center and the airport. The line boasts a short travel time of about 15 minutes and a schedule tailored to flights, but does not stop at stations in popular areas such as the Kishon Marina and the fishing port, which caused great disappointment among residents.

Other areas also have requirements.

In addition to the request to add stops at the Kishon Dock and the Fishing Port, there are similar demands in other areas of the city. Residents on Hapoel Street and Wedgwood Street report that the distances between bus stops are too long, which makes it especially difficult for older residents and regular users of public transportation.

Residents emphasize the need to develop more accessible and comprehensive public transportation solutions that will provide a solution for the entire population. They claim that this is a step that will contribute both to strengthening the use of public transportation and to reducing traffic congestion and private vehicles in the city. The question now arises whether the authorities will meet these demands, or whether the bus stops in these areas will continue to remain far from being implemented.

Haifa Municipality gave a response to Haifa:
"The Ministry of Transportation determines the routes of the lines and approves the location of the stations. The municipality accordingly prepares the detailed planning for the stations and implements them. The issue of bus stops at the Kishon anchorage and the fishing port was raised with the Ministry of Transportation, which decided that there is currently not enough demand compared to the significance of evaluating the route of the line and its winding. In general, any appeal to the municipality regarding public transportation is raised with representatives of the Ministry of Transportation at regular meetings."

  1. I don't know what you want in terms of the most developed transportation in the country, and I'm not saying that this line shouldn't be built, but it is the most developed in the country.

  2. Require the mayor and deputy mayors to travel to the municipality by public transportation.
I don't care if they have private drivers? Expense reimbursements? There are 80-year-olds without a car. Without drivers.
When they arrive at the meetings by public transportation, they will understand the problems and things will immediately start moving.
Without this, nothing will happen. They should be required to ride buses.

    • They should go out into the streets every morning for a walk and see what's going on in their city!!!
Not just when there are elections!!!

  3. All major municipalities require management of line layout
Only in Haifa, the Ministry of Transportation and its incompetent officials manage transportation here because no council member or deputy mayor holds the transportation portfolio. In Tel Aviv, there is a public transportation portfolio, so progress is being made there. In Haifa, everyone comes to council meetings by private car, they are completely disconnected.
Savyon only deals with parking benefits for retirees with luxury vehicles, they don't take care of all the retirees on buses.
    Just physically and psychologically disconnected..
