Robbed in broad daylight in Haifa, twice! • "There is no national security and no civil security"

(haipo) – “Personal insecurity is prevalent,” says Dr. Dalia Bar Maayan, a physician from Haifa, who has been the victim of a robbery twice in broad daylight over the past two years. The second time happened just a week ago, when her wallet and phone were stolen while she was riding a bus, and a significant amount of money was withdrawn from her bank account.

'Complete helplessness'

"We live in a reality where there is no national security and no civil security," Dr. Bar Maayan shares painfully. "You just want to feel safe when you go out on the street, but instead you find yourself facing thieves and crooks who roam among us unhindered. The police's job is to ensure our security, but in practice the feeling is one of complete helplessness."

'Cling to me from behind'

The incident occurred on Monday, January 13, 1, during the day, when Dr. Bar Maayan boarded bus line 25 at the Pika station in Haifa, on her way to the Grand Canyon. "I was standing at the Pika station on my way to the Grand Canyon and boarded the bus through the back door. A tall, large man boarded with me, asking the driver about Yehuda Street while blocking the validation device. At the same time, someone clung to me from behind and they got off the bus, and when I went to validate my card, I discovered that they had opened my bag and stolen my wallet and cell phone. "I felt helpless," she describes. "I had no card, no money, and no phone. I went into hysterics."

30,000 shekels were withdrawn from the account

The bus driver, Saher Hamed of Fordyce, came to her aid: he lent her his phone so she could contact her family, and even made sure to get her back on the bus so she could get to the bank. It was only when he got to the bank that Dr. Bar Maayan discovered the full extent of the damage – 30,000 shekels had been withdrawn from her account. “The driver not only helped me in these difficult moments, but also took an interest in my well-being and continues to do so,” Dr. Bar Maayan notes appreciatively.

'The sense of security has been lost'

Although she reported the incident to the police, no update has been received so far. "I completely lost my sense of security," says Dr. Bar Maayan. "One person blocked my path and another clung to me from behind. It is sad and painful to know that this is how life is in our country."

The case of Dr. Bar Maayan highlights the gap between the need for personal security and the daily reality on the streets, where citizens experience difficult events without hindrance.

The police told Lai Pa: "The case is under investigation."

  1. Now they will also charge 240 NIS from everyone.
To protect the public, we must.
And so every year it will go up and up until it becomes like a second property tax.
Where have we come! They are blackmailing the public.
As an excuse to protect them!

  2. The Coastal Region Police and the Haifa District Attorney's Office provide poor service to the victim - and excellent service to the perpetrator. The case was closed hours after the complaint was filed without any investigation. ('The case is under investigation'? Yes, really. Instead of the perpetrator, they are investigating the victim's credibility.)

  3. You weren't robbed, you were picked pocketed.. There's a big difference between the two offenses and their punishment..

    • For the victim, the result is the same. She is left halfway through without money and without a smartphone.

  4. Why is there a full government? There is a Jewish terrorist at the head of the clowns who only know how to beat up protesters. Baruch, we fired him and his racist party, they will fly home.

  5. This is how they steal in St. Petersburg, so they warned us on the trip, not to enter through the back door, only through the front and to stay alert and pay attention to the groups that get on through the back door. They tried to pickpocket me like that, but since they warned us, I immediately understood what we were dealing with, and I returned to our place at the front of the bus (I had to move towards the center of the bus because the conductor stopped there).

    • There are drivers who intentionally prevent passengers from boarding through the front door. (Why? It's not clear. But it exists).

  6. Unfortunately, criminals have been operating in the same way in Haifa for months. Despite several complaints filed with the police, despite the cameras on buses, metros, and ATMs, the police don't think anything needs to be done about it.

  7. The police do not have the capacity and resources to engage in crime prevention. They should spend all their manpower, technology, and money on preventing demonstrations by dangerous Kaplanist criminals.

  8. It's all because of Ben Gvir that the legal advisor to the government made sure to restrict his steps and didn't let him do anything with the help of the High Court. She doesn't care that people are robbed and murdered, the main thing is that Ben Gvir looks bad.

    • And it's a good thing she had to issue an order to break the bones of all the terrorist sympathizers.

  9. I love you
Pay attention to the advertisement above the article.
More security – for just one shekel per day.
This is it – we are on the road to destruction.

  10. Haifa Police Intelligence knows exactly who these are.
They won't arrest them, and maybe, because of the article, they will detain them.
These are organized groups of women and men, most of whom are at the Metro station at Gesher Paz.

  11. Louis des Pins police don't expect you to solve crimes maybe once, cases are usually closed due to lack of interest to the public, in most cases even in the north, the protection is back again, sad

  12. The police don't care. They don't have time for private individuals. Only corporations. If they steal from them, the police will take action. Their answer is always lack of interest in the public. Stupid answer.

  13. When murderers and slaughterers are released in bloody deals and the courts are a sham, a revolving door for criminals is the result and nothing should surprise us.

  14. This reminds me of the description of a pickpocket from the Tel Aviv area.
I don't know him, but I used to hear that in Tel Aviv there was someone very high up who was a pickpocket on the buses. Apparently, this garbage was burned in Tel Aviv and came to us in Haifa (I don't understand why they didn't take the part of them on the bus from the bus cameras when a complaint was filed)

  15. From reading the article it is not clear in what way
You withdrew such a large amount. The bank should not approve such a withdrawal for one day without contacting the account holder. And if she does not answer, of course, because the device was stolen, simply block the account. Until further notice. In the future, do not leave the bag on your back, but in front. I believe that the money will be returned.

  16. I once photographed a woman smoking in a no-smoking area at Carmel Hospital. She claimed I paid for her child. She called me a pervert and threatened me.
    It was in October 10.
    The police actually protected her.

    • What does Yahav have to do with it? In the next election, you will elect someone else.

  17. The case is under investigation… I was robbed in the same way and this was the police response. In short, there is no one to talk to and no one to trust, unfortunately.

  18. Pay attention to brainwashing in headlines and articles
Complain and tear down the company all the time.
Take away our sense of security.
    Citizens be warned

  19. Where are the Israel Police, who will stop the epidemic of theft, pickpockets, and drug addicts in Tel Aviv, a real disgrace.

    • This is a case of pickpocketing, not robbery. Robbery is committed using violence, threats, etc. Pickpocketing is a crime that exists in all major cities in Israel and around the world. I recommend that everyone who takes public transportation put their bag in a pouch in front, make sure the zipper is closed, put their wallet in a front pocket and not in a back pocket, including a cell phone, and of course limit the amount of withdrawals at the bank.

  20. Hello. I had exactly the same incident happen to me two months ago. At exactly the same bus stop and in the same way. My wallet and cell phone were stolen. Shocking. These are apparently a couple of professional pickpockets who operate in a sophisticated manner. The police should check if there are cameras in the area and see if they can show the pickpocket incidents. Apparently, this happened to quite a few people.

  21. Itamar Ben-Gvir and the police are doing a good job.

The problem, in my opinion, is that the police bring in criminals, and even if they are convicted in many cases, they are given ridiculous sentences, sometimes below the legislature's punishment threshold.
If the judge's role would be only to judge whether the accused committed the offense or not, and those convicted would be given strict and understandable minimum sentences, crime here would plummet, in my opinion.

  22. It's a shame how the country is run.
There is no sense of security anywhere in the country.
And still wonder why thousands of residents have been leaving the country in recent years??????

    • Hahaha they managed to brainwash you in the article..
You don't even notice how they're constantly trying to take away your sense of security,
Most countries you can't go there without getting a gun in your face. This is one of the safest countries. Obviously it's not 100% clear that there are exceptions.
But articles with headlines of vested interests. Who try to dismantle society from within. Don't let them take away your sense of security.

  23. In the past, Haifa was a city that people hated to travel to.
Today Haifa looks like a village.
The beautiful places in Hadar have closed.
    People "fleed" from Haifa
Instead of the places and businesses that were a pleasure to visit
    Open cafes and food stalls

  24. And besides, I'm constantly annoying.
The kind of people who open the electrical cabinet for me
I'm constantly afraid they'll burn down my electrical cabinet and dog urine smells terrible.
I alone can't sleep at night. In the evenings, I smell a strange burning smell and the smell of burnt chicken.
Does anyone mind that I live in my apartment...

  25. I also had my wallet stolen from my backpack at the matron.
With money and gold rings and diamonds, I was really helpless. I even called a police car, the police registered it, and beyond that, nothing was done.
I called the police station to inquire, I was yelled at, nothing was done.
And in addition, the robbers also come to my house.
Through the personal details from the wallet
I don't feel safe at home or when I go out.
    The police are doing nothing.

  26. But you pay security to the municipality, what kind of security do they provide... and the police... they are clowns. They come to work to get free money. Full of excuses and stories. How can you not work?
This is what Ben Gvir did.. He disrespected Yair Golan. He told him you didn't do anything. And what did he do?. The crime is bigger. The road accidents. There are no rules on the road. Whoever wants to signal, signals. In short, a herd without a shepherd.

  27. God forbid what's happening in Haifa, robbers, rapists, thieves, pickpockets, you have to walk around with knives in your pockets

  28. Haifa used to be a city of coexistence. Today, cousins do whatever they want here and it doesn't bother anyone.
Next October 7th will be here. Get ready.

    • The research you did is good... and flawed.
Field research – in short, it reveals that this is something else.. a uniform commune and not communism-Marxism-collectivism. Hatred for vegetarians (although as usual, the rule has exceptions and there are very few and not prominent currents) and the angle of meat as a substitute (it is really not a substitute) for the Temple sacrifices. Regarding Zionism – have you read the history of this public relations for Zionism? Or politics? Or what is Zionism? What is the goal (actually goals) that was not (or was) achieved (achieved).

I think it's important to examine the values and concepts we operate under.
I am not expressing a personal opinion here. Try to check because there is a story here (that is being intentionally hidden). (And as usual, no one likes to check) (or publish)

    • The response was for Yossi and does not belong here. Please ignore (or understand the content).

  29. Very sad
Only heavy minimum sentences, patience is running out.
The justice system sends them back to the streets without any jail time at all if the police are useful in checking at all.

  30. The main thing is that they accused me of theft and robbery, even though I didn't steal anything and didn't rob anything, and they put me in prison and ruined my life! And all this because I tried alone to capture a gang of thieves in Tel Aviv!!!!!! Simply a national disgrace!!!!!!

    • You're right, when they warn about thieves in big cities in Europe, it sounds different to us because we don't live there. There are a lot of cities in Europe where you don't even carry bags because of thieves/pickpockets.

  31. I also live in Haifa. Unfortunately, there is no sense of security even when you contact the police to report a specific incident. They don't come today. You can't rely on the police. If they intervene, it's too late until something serious happens.

  32. This is happening on the watch of a corrupt person from the right-wing coalition, full force, when Bibi appoints a convicted felon who used to be a moneylender to be in charge of the Louis de Finsef police and internal security, and we feel the terrible results around the clock.

  33. The police are busy harassing peaceful protesters, filing lawsuits against firecrackers and tracking a cardboard tank. As for everything else: "there is no public interest." Personal security has been lost, crime and fatalities in Arab society have increased, traffic accidents and property crimes have increased. It seems that the only public the police are interested in are the Prime Minister and former Minister Ben Gvir.

    • What an investigation, there are cameras on every bus, they posted the faces everywhere

    • Regardless of the article, I wanted to point out that the Helms report states that the annual average of cases opened by the Israel Police from the beginning of January 2017 to August 2022 was highest in the cities involved (41 cases per 1000 residents).

So my personal opinion is that in mixed cities, residents may encounter more crime in general.
Although statistically there are cases here and there and of course one should not generalize.

    • Haven't you learned yet that you don't carry your bag on your back, but on your stomach, leaning forward, and always keeping your hand on your bag, especially in a crowded place?

  34. Haifa became Ramla-Lod. A dangerous city. Full of drunks, drug addicts, prostitutes and thieves.
Today there is no Hadar in Hadar….. Scary. Most of the shops close early for fear of thieves. See Nordau Street…. Most of the shops are closed…. With barred doors….

  35. The Orthodox monotheistic Jewish religion requires:
    communism!!!
    naturalism!!
    Zionism!
Communism is implemented mainly through urban and rural kibbutzim, and among other things, it will provide you with the maximum possible personal, physical, and health security against the people, the state, and corrupt institutions, including the corrupt police and Shin Bet!

I am not expressing a personal opinion here. Try to check because there is a story here (that is being intentionally hidden). (And as usual, no one likes to check) (or publish)

    • Should Ben Gvir stand next to every policeman and force him to work? Also, one might think that before Ben Gvir, the police in Haifa ever worked. The most corrupt and pointless district in the country

    • Israelis always love ducks. I'm from Brazil and there you have to be fast, smart, attentive to all sides and your reading of your spatial situation is complete. But Israelis don't pay attention to anything. They run around in a panic, they cross streets without checking both sides, they don't listen, they don't know how to do simple math to check for change, for example... Are they surprised when something happens, a theft? Now, do me a favor! You're extremely spoiled.

    • There are a lot of people in Carmel, couples together, always high on drugs, big thieves, when will they be caught? Every day I see them sitting at the Reish Health Insurance station, 1 Elhanan Street, a lot of students at noon getting on the bus home, and if they are afraid of the children
