The Municipality of Haifa, at the initiative of the Municipal Authority for Senior Citizens, established in cooperation with the pensioners' lobby and the assistance center named after the late Shmuel Gantz, launched a new initiative, designed to make it easier for the city's senior citizens: a free repair truck that helps with minor household malfunctions.
The service, which was established with the blessing of Mayor Yona Yahav, aims to improve the quality of life of senior citizens and guarantee them safe and accessible maintenance in their homes and reduce home maintenance expenses.
Comprehensive and professional assistance in the resident's home
The new service provides solutions for everyday problems such as changing light bulbs, repairing a stuck window, installing shelves, repairing furniture, hanging curtains and much more. The mobile is operated by a professional who comes to the resident's home and performs the necessary repairs, all free of charge.
Broad support for senior citizens
Deputy Mayor Israel Savion commented on the launch of the new service and said: "This is an exciting and significant initiative designed to ensure that every senior citizen in the city, whose hands are out of reach, can receive safe service for their home. We are committed to providing them with support in all areas of life, and the repair vehicle is another important step on the way to that."
Council member Finney Wegman said that "this initiative is an expression of our mutual commitment as a society. The senior citizens contributed a lot to the building of the city and the country and now it's our turn to stand by their side. I thank all the partners in the movement, who are an example of leadership with values."
We continue to improve the quality of life in the city
The repair van is part of a wide array of initiatives led by the municipal authority for senior citizens under construction. The purpose of the initiatives is to provide senior citizens with services that are accessible and adapted to their needs, while cooperating with the community and other municipal entities. The service, launched under the leadership vision of Mayor Yona Yahav, illustrates the municipality's commitment to the well-being of its veteran residents.
The service is now available to residents of Haifa and Kiryat Haim and Shmuel and you can contact the assistance center named after the late Shmuel Gantz
