On Wednesday 8/1/24, a unique exhibition will open in Talfiot market in Haifa that will present the works of young Arabs and Jews, as part of the joint "PHOTO SALAM" project. The exhibition, whose content deals with dialogue and cooperation between the various communities in Israel, is a platform for art that encourages mutual understanding in a difficult and complex time.

The event will be held at "Roof 21", the urban cultural center in Talpiot Market, and will focus on the power of photography as a universal medium that connects people. Arab and Jewish students and teenagers participated in the project, who expressed their personal experiences through the camera and were part of enriching meetings with other teenagers, with the aim of promoting the dialogue between the communities and fostering social activism.

Among the leading artists who present in the exhibition are Karam Natur, an esteemed visual artist nominated for awards, as well as a number of young artists from the region, both Jewish and Arab, who were partners in the joint creative process.

PHOTO SALAM program
The PHOTO SALAM program recognizes photography as a universal language that creates a collaborative and experiential platform for Arab and Jewish students and youth to express themselves freely, share their personal stories and hold a dialogue. Through the meeting between Arab and Jewish youth, the PHOTO SALAM program fosters mutual understanding, encourages social activism and creates a platform for community involvement.
During the past year, more than 250 Arab and Jewish students, teenagers and young adults from all over Israel participated in the PHOTO SALAM program. The participants, representing the full social spectrum of society, united to make an inspiring voice, through photography and the written word. Their work explores issues of belonging, friendship, religion, unity, identity and the uncertainties at the heart of shared life in a society facing complex challenges.
