Wedding in the library: Daniela and Sahar chose to take pictures among the books in the university library

(haipo) - Students at the University of Haifa were amazed at the sight of an unusual spectacle that took place in the library a few days ago. A young couple in bride and groom clothes, accompanied by a professional photographer, walked around the shelves and posed for photos. When you ask the bride, Daniela Sonino (24), she says that what is surprising is not that she took a picture in a wedding dress in the library, but that there are no more couples, who get married, who do that.

Daniela works in the university library and is a student in the psychedelic track in the art department (second year). She met Sahar Ashkenazi (24) 6 years ago.

Tell us a little about how you met?

"We met about six years ago during our service year. I did my service year in the South Sharon Regional Council, and Sahar in the Hoof Ashkelon Regional Council. We met in preparation for the opening trip of the year, and we've been together ever since. I'm from Mitzpe Githa near Kfar Varadim, and Sahar is from Moshav Moled near Afula. The relationship Between us it started to develop during the service year, after which we both enlisted in the navy and served at the base in Haifa.

During my military service, the bond grew even stronger. After my discharge, Sahar was discharged about six months after me. We were together at a Jewish Agency summer camp in the Boston area, and from there we went on a big trip to South America that lasted six months. We returned to Israel two years ago, and moved in together – first in Nahariya and then in Haifa. Last year I started studying at the university, while Sahar finished a course at Teltan College and decided to continue his studies at Wizo, which is also part of the university."

When did you decide to get married?

"At the end of June, we went to a greenhouse near the Sea of Galilee and saw the view. I asked Sahar why he didn't propose to me. He told me that the ring was already on its way, but we could start planning and when the ring arrived, he would bring it to me, and that's what we did."

I imagine that it is not easy to plan a wedding during a war

"We were supposed to get married in September in Ramat Yishai, but due to the security situation we were forced to postpone the wedding by three months and move it to Pardes Hanna. I decided that it would be best to organize it at our house in Haifa. When we started thinking about a place for pre-wedding photos, we realized that one of the most beautiful places in Haifa was the university library. Our photographer was very enthusiastic about the idea, and said that he used to study in Haifa and would come to the library, which is truly a spectacular place."

How did the students react when they saw a bride and groom among the books?

"On the day of the wedding, we arrived at the library at 15:00 p.m. and started taking photos. The students who were surprised to see us clapped and stopped to wish us a happy birthday, which created a heartwarming atmosphere. We took pictures between the shelves, and a good friend of mine also joined the photos and was enthusiastic about the location. Tomer, the photographer, noticed the bridge The transparent in front of the spiral stairs in the library and offered to take photos there. The atmosphere was amazing and special, and the feeling of familiarity added to the unique experience."

What is behind the decision to take a photo in the library?

"I think it's more special to be photographed in places that are personally meaningful to you. I don't understand how people don't immediately think of the library as a suitable place for wedding photos like the seaside or the Baha'i gardens."

How was the wedding?

"The wedding was amazing and very happy and passed too quickly for us. Everyone was beautiful and happy, dancing and laughing and there was a really magical feeling that evening."

How were the reactions to the pictures from the library?

"Everyone was enthusiastic about the pictures from the library. My grandmother's sister was a librarian in Italy until she retired and my grandmother sent her the pictures and she was also very excited about this special library."

Do you already have plans for the honeymoon?

"We dream of a honeymoon in Mexico. We really love the country and want to dive there together and see the amazing nature. We hope to make it during the summer vacation between semesters."
