Five fans of the Beitar Jerusalem team were arrested at "Sami Ofer" in Haifa

(Hai Fe) - As part of an operational preparation by the Hof District Police, five fans of the Beitar Jerusalem soccer team were arrested on their way to the "Sami Ofer" stadium for a match against Maccabi Haifa.

The arrest was made after the suspects were found in possession of various weapons, including a knife, telescopic ones, pepper spray, a shocker and pyrotechnic devices.

The police officers, acting as part of an extensive security plan for the game, arrested the suspects and took them to the Haifa station for questioning. At the end of the investigation, the suspects are expected to be imprisoned.

Later in the evening, additional weapons were located:

Police officers and saboteurs of the Coast District who were operationally deployed around the perimeter of the stadium seized a large number of pyrotechnic devices in parked vehicles which were intended to be activated during the game at Sami Ofer, as suspected

Israel Police: "We will act hard against violence in sports"

The Israel Police in the Hoof District clarified: "The Israel Police will act resolutely against any manifestation of violence, in accordance with the "Violence in Sports Law", which aims to provide a safe and enjoyable sports experience for all fans. We will continue to work to bring to justice anyone who violates the law and harms public safety."

Increased security at sporting events

The Israel Police emphasizes that as part of the fight against violence in sports, large police forces are deployed in and around the football fields, with the aim of ensuring the safety of all fans and enabling safe and pleasant sporting events
