(haipo) - The residents of Haifa have been dealing with a problem for years that burdens daily life in the city: many roads, which are supposed to serve as safe and convenient transportation routes, are full of gaping potholes that are a significant hazard. These potholes are not just an aesthetic nuisance or a detriment to the comfort of drivers, but a symbol of a continuous failure in the maintenance of the city's infrastructure, which raises questions about the level of maintenance they receive.
For example, driving through the Neve Sha'anan neighborhood - along HaGalil, Midian and Trumpeldor streets - intensifies the feeling that the roads in this area have been completely abandoned. But the problem is not limited only to this neighborhood. Similar complaints are heard from all over the city: Dori road, which suffers from repeated defects, streets in the Bat Galim neighborhood, especially near the "Carrefour" branch, where every entrance and exit becomes a real challenge for the train. That's how Gaf Derech France in Carmel French, Sderot Hanasi, Yair Stern - and the list goes on.
The blessed rains that are still expected this season will only exacerbate the problem. Small potholes fill with water and become deep and dangerous potholes, catching drivers off guard. Here it is no longer just a matter of harming the comfort of the ride, but a real danger - to the tires, the vehicle systems, and sometimes even to human life.

The potholes in the roads have become a cross-border problem - one that does not distinguish by age, geographic location or economic status. Residents from all neighborhoods of the city, from young drivers to veterans, face the same growing sense of despair. Stories about drivers who had to change tires, deal with worn suspensions and damage to the steering systems are heard again and again. But beyond the economic damage, a sense of helplessness takes over. Although the municipality promises every year that a "fundamental work plan" will provide an answer to the problem, in practice the potholes remain in place - and the frustration among the residents only deepens.
It's not that the topic hasn't come up before. Many articles have been published on the subject, including here in "Hai Pa". But it seems that as long as a serious master plan is not formulated, which includes organized budgets and clear schedules, nothing will really change. We receive promises, we hear about plans, but the reality on the ground remains the same. Another year passes, and nothing substantial happens. The potholes remain in their place, as if they are an integral part of the city landscape.
Haifa Municipality gave a response to Haifa: "The new municipal administration is aware of the state of the city's roads and therefore, upon taking office, directed the preparation of a rehabilitation plan for the city's roads at a total cost of tens of millions of shekels. Since it is not possible to rehabilitate all the city's roads at the same time, the municipality works to restore the streets according to a regulated work plan that is carried out according to priorities and the budgetary limitations in which the municipality operates.
Within this framework, since the new municipal administration took office, many roads in all the city's neighborhoods have been rehabilitated at a total cost of approximately NIS 25 million. The works were carried out on sections of roads that claimed to be restored, among others, in Kiryat Haim, the Haifa Bay, the lower city and the center of Carmel. As was done in all of these, it will be done in the future on other streets of the city at a total cost of tens of millions of additional shekels that have already been allocated to the issue as part of the municipal development budgets for 2025."
I want to say something... Yona Yahav repaired and arranged and scraped/repaved a lot of roads in Haifa... a lot.
Yes, there are potholes, yes, there is still more to sort out, but look at the half-full glass as well... Yona Yahav has done the best so far.
The entire section from Bat Galim to Shaprinzak is on Route 4. This is not how the exit road from Haifa to the south should look
The main danger in these pits is precisely for the electric cyclists who travel on the road
Every time I have to maneuver my way around potholes, it has happened to me several times that I almost fell off my bike because I stepped on a pothole
Even the bike paths are not safe, they also have cracks and potholes
The condition of the roads in Haifa is in the past! ! !
And what happens to the access road to Neve David that goes through the cemetery? what the hell is this!!!!!!!!?????
Yes, there they also didn't make parking on the sidelines for all those who come to funerals and stand in the middle of the road, and they also destroyed the northbound lane instead of repairing it.
They just had to dig a pipe in the middle of the lane.
The car gets older, more treatments, money for the state... it's better for the state that you go into the garage every week. It makes no economic sense to pave roads
What about the concrete that is poured from the concrete mixers all over the city on the sides of the roads, put cameras and catch them. In the meantime, scrape the concrete. You can't drive on the right side of the road in many places in the city.
So true.
After all, it happens at specific points, what's the problem with putting a camera and fining the concrete companies with such sums, which will enable the repair of the damage and maybe deter them a bit... the owners of Nahal Givorim for example or the owners of Verdia.
An ongoing hazard. For urgent, very urgent care. Good and blessed night to all.
And what about Yona Hapozai? Every Haifa is full of wild boars for dirt, open roads and neglect and only boasts. shame.
King Shlomo Street in Neve David is simply a hazard along its entire length, and the road along the cemeteries, where a ditch was dug and closed in a negligent and dangerous manner. And more and more... potholes and potholes by the new building, how did they give permission for the building without demanding that the road be repaired during construction???????
The municipality and its employees know what money is, and it is also a big problem to take it. They poor people do not know what service and giving is. For the nice reporter, come to Gaula Street. Shiloh St. Arlozorov St. Rabbi Akiva Street. Let's see what will be done with the property tax money of the residents... that's right 0. Nothing. Nothing. Deep sleep.
On the other hand, landscaping work on the traffic islands while blocking traffic lanes is back in full swing. Is it true that you missed Yahav? The pigs are still here, recycling bins have disappeared, the number of parking tickets has doubled, the casino is no longer ours, thousands of housing units have been approved for the contractors, and God knows how many tons of fuel are stored under our noses. Definitely a man of action, is that what you meant when you recited that "she didn't do anything?"
I loved every word!
did and did
• Let the pigs reproduce as they could
• Flushed 30 years of struggles against overhead electrification down the toilet
• Destruction of urban spaces with KKL-Junk tables
• Paid millions to consultants
• Took photo ops next to each new bench that was placed
• Made Lihav look like a reasonable mayor compared to her.
This woman is really a disgrace, how come we didn't give her a few more years to abuse us
Already two say that there is no budget for St. Marseille, a real shame for the municipality
Not accurate, Horev intersection from Mapo to Freud has been completely renovated.
On Wheat Street Haifa do you call it a road?
catastrophe.
I have applied several times to the public complaints of Haifa Municipality
