Friendship is something basic and blood sweat and tears will make you muscles. I came to the power institute together with Shlomo Goldman Haifai Faor. A friend from Masada Street who lives in the same building as my classmate Dani Shapira. Shlomo is tall and sturdy, interested in the Samson Institute. The visit for me was a one-off, but my friend trained vigorously and became strong and robust
Something that after a while got us into a lot of trouble.
We served together in the 403rd Artillery Battalion and on one of the punishment sabbaths we stayed in a camp in Palmahim. On Saturday morning without permission, we ran away to buy cigarettes in Bat Yam. At this time Komandkar came to inspect and dug in the sands. The chance of such an excavation just when we are at the kiosk in Bat Yam is like being struck by lightning twice in the same day in the summer.

If a battalion vehicle gets stuck in the sand, who are they looking for first? You are Goldman. It is much more than a vaccine and without it the chances of rescue tend to zero. As soon as Goldman is in the kiosk and I am with him, then the heavy punishment imposed is for both of us, even mine has nothing to do with car recovery. A special story perpetuates the punishment for future generations who will label the story as an imaginary fiction of a bib drunk. Who will believe him?
At 108 Arlozorov St. in Haifa, in the basement of the building is the institute founded by Raphael Halperin in 1950. The institute has been active in the same occupations with different operators for seventy years. Halperin who was world champion in freestyle wrestling and also fought against an old Alzheimer's diseased lion with a glass eye and won. He established several institutes throughout the country and wrote a book. Now the director of the institute is a huge bodybuilder named Yehoshua Massinger, who also guides the trainees there.

I met Yehoshua at the Bat Galim pool. Enters the water and waves his fit and muscular wife up. His hands are straight, he holds her waist and thus walks towards the deep water. Both are very tanned and the crowd of bathers surrounds the pool and watches the spectacle.
Thus Joshua reaches the middle of the pool, the water is already deep but his head is still sticking out of the water. He continues until his head disappears into the water. He stands for a few seconds and then throws his partner forward like an arrow from a big bow. He lightly got out of the pool, his muscles bulging from the effort. A play for all children. Who doesn't crave muscles like that?
The institute operated many hours a day and trained young bodybuilders. Few managed to reach the dimensions of world champions, whose pictures graced the showcase that stood on the sidewalk at the entrance to the building. This showcase including the old photos is still in the same place after my visit. Probably lost the key. Bodybuilding brochures came straight from America and everyone who visited the institute was invited to admire and envy the American bodybuilders. The walls of the institute were covered with motivational mirrors and pictures of the greatest in the world.
Air conditioners weren't even in fictional movies. A pungent smell of sweat greeted me at the entrance to the institute. Within minutes the smell is gone and your breath merges with the general smell and you don't feel a thing. Many weights are scattered in every corner and everyone performs different exercises. Each exercise works a different muscle group. You must not neglect even the smallest muscle if you want to have the body of a perfect bodybuilder. Everything was done with inhalations and exhalations of air that would not embarrass a train locomotive.
As a music student I could not dream of enrolling in such a muscle factory. The only exercises I could do were within the neighborhood, in games and various adventures. Shlomo Goldman was already properly built as a teenager, he continued his training rigorously for many more years. The punishment we suffered because of Goldman's muscles will be told, as mentioned, in detail.
Yehoshua Messinger the Haifa bodybuilder died in 1989 at the age of 59. We will remember him!

I remember Goldie and his then wife Leah Goldman and their son Tal in the early 70s. . . Their friend, the Haifa painter Gigit Harel, liked to depict Goldie,
And in her words:
"The smartest, most fascinating person with the greatest sense of humor" !!
Great for all exercisers. champions Getting to know Shlomo, the manager of Migdal Ha'emek Rogozin in the past who managed with a trusting and loving hand for many years, and now I discovered another side of him. Congratulations and most importantly keep going and enjoy.
Glad you liked it, thanks!
A beautiful and interesting story, especially for "old Haifaites". After the "Samshon Institute", and at the same time, the "Haifa Institute" was opened on Y. L. Street. Peretz, who operated for many years. On the luxurious car of the owner Eli Amarni, it is written that the institute has been operating since 1956.
