Update for Thursday 27/11/24, noon, a few minutes ago the family of the late Assaf Dagan was informed that the Minister of Defense approved a full military burial.
The family was also informed that the state proposes that the late Asaf Dagan be buried in a full military burial, but with a civilian part and not a military part, as befits Asaf.
Attorney Yuval Yoaz on behalf of the Dagan family:
"A full military funeral for the late Assaf Dagan is the minimum he deserves, and I thank the Minister of Defense for making the necessary decision following the High Court hearing.
We ask the Minister of Defense to complete the move and shoot, as ordered by previous Ministers of Defense in other cases, including the former Minister of Defense Galant, because Yeatman was buried in a military cemetery, and not in a civilian cemetery, as was appropriate in this case.''
The Dagan family said:
"We thank the Minister of Defense, who demonstrated leadership in the case, and request that he approve Assaf's burial in a military cemetery, as befits a soldier of the people of Israel. We believe that the Minister of Defense will respond to our call, which is also the call of the people, of ministers and members of the Knesset, and of the heads of the army in the past, and will act as the ministers of defense before him have done in similar cases.''
The rejection of the head of the ACA, Thursday 21/11/24
(haipo) - Yesterday evening, Thursday, 21/11/2024, the ACA ombudsman informed the family that the head of the ACA Major General Dado Bar Khalifa is once again rejecting their demand to recognize it as an IDF space and for a military burial without any explanations. The Dagan family received the news with fury despite all the findings presented to the army and only a day after the head of the IDF decided in an unusual and immediate manner to recognize a civilian as an IDF soldier, even before the completion of the IDF investigation and in the face of severe criticism within the IDF for this decision and the opening of an IDF investigation "H in the matter.
In addition, four weeks after the death of the late navigator Assaf Dagan, the Rambam Medical Center informed his family that it does not have the necessary means to preserve his body in proper conditions for a long time. The Dagan family, for its part, refuses to bury his body until permission is received to bury him in a military burial.
The family's request to speed up the process
In accordance with Judge Ruth Ronen's decision, a hearing on the petition to the High Court was set for this coming Monday, 25/11/2024, eight days after the petition was submitted. The security establishment is required to submit its preliminary response by Sunday. from the Rambam Hospital that they are unable to continue holding the body of the late Assaf, which has been under their care for four weeks, given the circumstances. The family demands to speed up the examination of the existing and new evidence and to order a military burial for the late Assaf immediately.
As I recall, the late Assaf Dagan, 38, was discharged from the regular army 4 years before he was found dead, and during those 4 years he served in the reserves many times. His family says that since the outbreak of the 'Iron Swords' war, he served in the reserves with a particularly high frequency, and that even on the day of his death , before his body was found, was on his way to additional reserve service in the morning hours. Previous evidence presented to the IDF proves the claim that Asaf was summoned in a panic notice to the shift in Kirya on the day of his death, and that a bag packed with equipment for the shift he was supposed to perform that day was found near his body.
New evidence
From this, last night (Wednesday 20/11/24) the Dagan family presented the security system with new evidence that supports its claims, and it is added to the other evidence it presented earlier. Among the new evidence that can be published, there are photographs showing that Assaf's body was found near a bus stop, from where he was supposed to take a bus to the next shift. In addition, screenshots that the family was able to extract from Assaf's phone, testify to the frequent use of the "Mobit" application to plan his arrival at the Kiriya base. It was also found that from the correspondence of conversations that the family was able to recover from the phone (some of them were deleted), it is clear that Assaf used public transportation to get to the reserve, and not a private car, which he did not have at all.
The security system clarified that they will examine the new claims presented to them, as part of the renewed examination of all the family's claims, as presented to the system and as part of the family's petition to the High Court.
Can't wait any longer
After submitting the petition to the High Court and in accordance with the instructions of Defense Minister Israel Katz to re-examine the claims of the Dagan family to recognize the late Major Assaf Dagan as an IDF soldier, Assaf's mother said: "We told Minister Israel Katz that we received a call from the hospital Rambam, where we were told that they could no longer keep Assaf's body, which had been withering for four weeks. It's just shocking. The hearing at the High Court is only scheduled for Monday, but we cannot wait any longer. All the people of Israel know that Assaf is entitled to a military burial, and the new evidence we discovered this week leaves no room for doubt. ".
At the meeting held yesterday between the representatives of the family and the representatives of the defense establishment, positive progress was noted in the cooperation on the part of the IDF. Now the Dagan family requests to speed up the completion of the re-examination ordered by the Minister of Defense and to ensure that Assaf will be brought for an immediate military burial.
An important message for the reserve servants
Assaf's sister, Inbal, said in response: "The outgoing AKA head, like the previous defense minister, chose not to give my brother, the late Major Assaf Dagan, the honor and military burial that he so deserves. The entry of Israel Katz into the picture did bring about a positive change, and I believe that the incoming head of the ACA, General Dado Bar-Khalifa, will continue this way, make the required decision and order an immediate military burial for Assaf. Such a decision will not only honor Assaf, but will also send an important message to the reserve service public, according to which the senior command does not turn its back on them."
The Rambam Medical Center responded, because they contacted the Dagan family and announced that they did not have the means to keep her body under proper conditions for an extended period of time. They also added that the body of the late navigator Assaf Dagan, which has been in the mortuary for almost a month, is not being kept in optimal conditions.
Arguing for nothing, what does it matter where he will be buried, civil or military, all this is pride, and money,
How much the soul endures severe things. It is written about those who mourn the dead, let alone a month, who allows you this, even without it, he is...
Basha gave his whole life for the country. We hope that justice will be done to Defense Minister Katz
How ugly can the head of the ACA be who quickly approves of deciding that a citizen will die in vain for the death of an IDF soldier just to visit Lebanon, but refuses to recognize a navigator who also contributed reserve days as an IDF spaceman this year.
I say it would be an injustice to collect the entire army. It is a fact that this happened to him on the way to the reserve army. His situation was difficult, so he decided to end his life. Ahel says the health condition Ma Asaf went through only because of what he went through in the army. He felt he had to enlist in the reserves. But it's so hard for him right now to put on a uniform and join the reserves. It took over him. I dealt with the issue of volunteering as soon as I was called to be stationed in the reserves and I had proof that he intended to enlist and the car was on his way, so he has insurance from a place he was ordered. The IDF invited me and there is proof that I was invited then under the responsibility of the IDF. Therefore the army is responsible for fulfilling the request of his parents
What happened to the army? How can you trust them if they don't do what they are supposed to do. military. Assaf gave his life for the army. And the army must embrace every soldier who actually died and could not cope because of the trauma he suffered.
The chief of staff is a little emotional. This is a soldier who must fulfill what he paid in the end to be buried as a soldier. The army does no favors. He deserves it by law. Because he died on his way to the reserve, he took his own life. If there was a donation on the way they would also be ignored. Enough!!
Shame and disgrace are doing accounting, after all, he was mentally injured by the army, don't give up, be strong, you are absolutely right
I pray for you, that Assaf will have an honorable military burial soon!
Did Assaf Dagan serve in the Egged Artillery unit???
Of blessed memory
Must come to a military burial
What an army we have that has been carrying out the burial for a month now
disgrace
