The mayor of Kiryat Bialik, Eli Dukorski, this month opened the 15th year of the "Story Hour with the Mayor" project - a unique educational project in which the mayor reads stories to first graders in the city.
"The Hungry Garment"
This year Dukorski chose to read the book "The Hungry Garment", by Demi, which presents many values to children through a fascinating and rich story. "The Hungry Garment" is a folk moral story, funny and enjoyable, which aims to teach its readers a lesson about themselves and the society around them.

The story becomes a well-formulated lesson: "If you want to look deeply, look at the person and not at his clothes. The clothes can be changed, but not the person... Many are the good people who lie under worn clothes. When it comes to clothes, the new ones are the best, but when it comes to friends, the old ones are the best ". The choice of the book takes on new validity in the current period, when civil courage and integrity are required from all levels of society.
The first meeting for this year was held by the mayor in the 1st grade at the Mitrim school. During the meeting, alongside the reading of the story, there was a discussion with the students about the values of honesty, sincerity and courage.

Dukorski says:
Reading stories to first graders is the happiest moment of my week. The meeting with the children, their innocence and wisdom, and the ability to talk with them about values and morals through a story, is an exciting and enriching experience. It is a great privilege for me to continue this tradition for 15 years.
