An annual tradition continues: Volunteers of Accessibility Israel North (N.Y.C.) held a unique project to raise awareness of accessibility among the trainees of the "Gal" pre-military training school operating in Kiryat Bialik. On Wednesday (13/11/24) the activity took place at Beit Yad Labanim, as part of which the trainees experienced a practical experience of dealing with various disabilities.

During the activity, the trainees entered the lecture room with their eyes covered, led by N.Y.C. volunteers. Dr. Roital Shurtz-Sbirsky, director of N.Y.C. and the deputy mayor, shared her personal story and presented the variety of disabilities and solutions for accessibility The trainees experienced physical, visual and hearing disabilities, under the motto "Only if you experience - you will understand".
Dr. Shortz-Sbirsky says:
The meeting was particularly exciting. The trainees showed maturity and seriousness in discussing the complex issues that arose, and it is clear that the activity contributed to their understanding of the importance of accessibility in society.
Dr. Shortz-Sabirsky thanked Ortel Haddad, director of the youth department in Kiryat Bialik municipality; Noelia Vituro, coordinator of the preparatory school; and N.Y.C. volunteers - Rachel Shepak (outreach coordinator), Gila Eliyahu, Hani Cohen and Esti Eliezer.
