(haipo) - Just one day before the pogrom in Amsterdam I was walking the streets of the city. The tension and hostility against Israel and the Jewish community was clearly visible throughout the city. PLO flags in the streets, anti-Semitic demonstrations and the police's lack of preparation raise serious doubts about the ability to identify and prevent the events. Could the events have been foreseen and the violence prevented? Certainly yes!
PLO flags - growing tensions in the city
During the visit to Amsterdam, it was difficult not to notice the prominent presence of PLO flags. The flags, which were hung in the windows of many residents, symbolize support for the "Palestinian" struggle and create a particularly tense atmosphere. It seems that this is a warning signal that was not properly addressed by the authorities.
Anti-Semitic demonstrations in the heart of the cityר
Dam Square, the central square of Amsterdam, hosts anti-Semitic demonstrations on a weekly basis. PLO flags are waving, and supporters of the intifada are making blatant calls against Israel. These events, which have become routine, sharpen the sense of threat towards Jews in the city.
Zero preparation on the part of the Amsterdam police
Despite the repeated tensions and incidents, it seems that the Amsterdam police were not properly prepared for the soccer match between Maccabi Tel Aviv and Ajax, the city's local team. Ignoring the potential danger posed to the many Israelis who invaded Amsterdam, together with the lack of advance planning and taking adequate preventive measures, raises questions about a serious systemic failure. The lack of preparation on the part of the police and legal authorities in Amsterdam, along with the lack of response from the Israeli institution for the protection of the thousands of citizens, reflect a disturbing gap in understanding the situation and handling it.
The incitement is clear but the silence is thunderous
All the signs were there: increasing hostility in the streets, violent demonstrations and heated discourse. Despite this, the authorities chose not to act in time. The pogrom is the result of warnings that were ignored, and leaves heavy questions about the responsibility of all parties involved.
Are we talking about "there" as if our situation is much better?
Only in our city alone the sector makes up about 13-12% and more than 2 million in Israel.
Somehow there is a tendency to think that Israel has control, but the last year and a half have proven otherwise and that's even before we almost had time to forget the events of the Guardian of the Walls from 2021.
It is true that the police and security forces in Israel are trying very hard and in this context they do not allow pro-Palestinian demonstrations and Palestinian flags to be raised and within a few minutes this is enforced and dispersed (unlike previous times in the previous decade who remembers stormy demonstrations with Palestinian flags in the German colony).
But the many attacks carried out by citizens with blue ID cards and many cases of incitement and support for the enemy that the police are dealing with prove in my opinion that if most of them had not been deterred by the security forces here in Israel - God forbid the situation would have been much worse such as violent clashes in the cities and neighborhoods and stormy demonstrations.
But enforcement and security are only pain relievers, the problem exists and is increasing and in my opinion if there is no separation of the peoples on the basis of religion/nationality you will probably have to include most of our settlers and most of the citizens of the sector who live here in Israel for the separation of the peoples in separate countries and that it be agreed upon by all parties and through international and American mediation and not In unilateral moves, otherwise Israel, in my opinion, is going in the wrong direction of a country that is becoming bi-national day by day, which is not only security complexity and a decrease in personal security, but also a possible increase in assimilation, fear and the humiliation of our religious identity as is happening in many places in the world.
Despite the cases published in the media of supporting the so-called enemy, etc., and despite their high numerical proportion as stated in society, it is important to note that the majority of the citizens of the sector in Israel are legitimate and law-abiding citizens of the country, and crime and a decrease in personal security exist in society as a whole and God forbid there was an intention to include them in that minority who break the law.
Such an intention and arrangement as I proposed will only be to the extent stated and all those citizens from the 2 nations above will agree to the same solution.
Whether there was advance knowledge or whether there was spontaneous organization, without police intervention - it could not have been prevented or reduced.
The very existence of the game, the police had to be stepped on.
And I realized that the police started moving only after the intervention of the politicians...
You've gone far, let's look at Haifa, what's different?????? The city is Hamastan full of Amalek seed who possess weapons without a license and in the end it will explode inside it's only a matter of time they are slowly establishing themselves more and more in the neighborhoods of the city and accumulating power I'm just shocked that people still didn't understand this Wall Guard was just a promo for what they really want to do and the worst It's the same greedy apartment owners who rent out their apartments to them like Gershon from Etgar Real Estate at 12 Yosef Street fills Haifa with them.
Thank you for the important article you wrote Omer
Religion should be separated from the state! According to Or and former rabbi Yaron Yedan
It seems to me that the riots could have been predicted in advance because before that the Maccabi Tel Aviv fans chanted and sang together songs of death to the Arabs and other things about Gaza in the streets of Amsterdam. You can see this in the videos that are circulating on the Internet and for some reason did not reach the Israeli media. So yes, the danger was clear and immediate.
