(haipo) - The Magistrate's Court in Haifa sentenced Yaakov Yatah from Haifa to ten months of actual imprisonment, in addition to probation and a monetary fine, after he was convicted of inciting violence and terrorism.
Yatach distributed videos on the "TikTok" network at a time when there were stormy demonstrations in Israel in which he called for severe violence against certain demonstrators and personalities.
The indictment states that Yatah, who managed three Tik Tok accounts, distributed two inciting videos, in which a call to harm protesters and public figures (among them court judges and military personnel) was heard.
In one of the videos, for example, Yat'ah is heard saying harsh sentences aimed at a certain public, which included calls for physical harm to people identified with different political positions.
"We will burn you in the light of day"
Among the things heard in the video: "The entire left-wing society needs to be eradicated from here at all costs, legal or not, axes to the head, stabs in the face... At the court hearing, the prosecution emphasized the seriousness of the publications and claimed that it was a direct call to violence and terrorism. Judge Maria Fikos Bogdanov stated that the chants violate protected social values, including public peace, maintaining public order and ensuring the lives of the people to whom the incitement was directed. The judge ruled that Yathach's punishment was determined in accordance with a stricter punishment policy for similar offenses, with the aim of conveying a clear message about the danger of inciting posts on social networks.
The prosecution demanded an actual prison sentence in light of the tense public atmosphere in which the videos were distributed and in view of the potential for serious damage to individuals and society. On the other hand, Yathach's defense attorney claimed that he was a man from the settlement without public influence and that he admitted his actions at an early stage, which saved judicial time and reduced the harm to others involved.
The court, as mentioned, sentenced Yatah to ten months of actual imprisonment starting from the day of his arrest, six months of probation for three years, and a fine of NIS 5,000. It also ordered the confiscation of the telephone he used to distribute the inciting content.
