18-year-old Sion Sde was killed by shrapnel from missiles while working in the fields of Kfar Masrik

(haipo) - With great sorrow and pain, last night (Wednesday 6/11/24) the community of Kfar Masrik was informed of the tragic death of the late Sion Sde, an 18-year-old boy who was killed while working in one of the kibbutz fields when a rocket barrage was fired into the area. Sion grew up in the kibbutz and was loved and appreciated by Everyone around him. He was killed by shrapnel and left a deep and painful void in the heart of the entire community.

the hard truth

Miron Shapir, the director of the community in the village of Masrik, painfully recounts the moment when they were informed of the tragedy: "A passer-by reported to the security forces about an unconscious man in the field, and within a short time we received a call from the police informing us of this. We immediately went to the field and could not believe the hard truth that was revealed to us: Our 18-year-old Sion, one of the best among us..." says Shapir with deep sorrow. "He was in the field as part of his work, as part of which they go out every evening to check the integrity of the irrigation systems - a job he did with dedication and love. Usually if there are no problems or malfunctions - they return after half an hour, if there is a malfunction it takes two or three hours."

Everyone knows everyone

The community in Kfar Masrik - which, as its members testify - is a place where 'everyone knows everyone and everyone cares for each other', is now in unbearable shock and pain. "Sion was a talented boy, an outstanding athlete, a social person and loved by all the members of the kibbutz," says Shapir. "He integrated well into the work at the kibbutz and knew how to devote himself thoroughly to every task. Everyone here loved him and appreciated his dedication."

Community engagement

The death of the late Sion Sde immediately led to the commitment of all community members to support and strengthen his family. "The entire kibbutz is here for them," says Shapir. "We are not just a community, we are a big family. We will support the family as much as we can. The help also comes from the regional council, which has experience in supporting such tragic events."

The funeral of the late Sion Sade will take place tomorrow (Friday 8/11/24), at 11:00, at the cemetery in Kfar Masrik.

  • The director of the community points out that they are now waiting for instructions from the Home Front Command, out of concern for the safety of the participants. According to the instructions, it will be possible to update the allowed number of participants.

The community of Kfar Masrik is now facing a painful loss that has no consolation, and my heart goes out to the family of Sde Abela. "Sion was a boy who was all kindness, talent and devotion. May we never know such moments of pain again," concludes Shapir, "our hearts are with the family, we are here for them."

Of blessed memory.

  1. There is endless pain in the heart, a child who is just starting a life, why, why, it's over and he was only 18 years old, and the pain of the family, and friends and the country as a whole, Sivan is always with us in our hearts.

  2. I don't understand, they say not to stay away from a protected place, what goes through people's minds?
How much grief they bring to their families because of the disregard for the instructions. Sad sad and then they say it's fate
