(lives here with the kindergarten children) - Parents of children in the urban kindergartens Yona (age 4-5) and Dolphin A (age 3-4) in Haifa, oppose sending their children to the kindergartens, since they do not have standard protected areas. "I would be very happy to send my son to kindergarten," says a mother of one of the children, "but it's clear to me that I can't send him to a place that doesn't have an emergency room, a shelter, or even a protected indoor room."
According to the mother, last week the children were transferred to alternative kindergartens - Gan Barak and Gan Eitan, which have a large and adapted kindergarten, but on Saturday night the instructions of the Home Front Command and the Haifa Municipality were changed, and the children were returned to the original kindergartens. As a result, many parents now avoid sending their children to kindergartens : "Today there were only 9 children out of 25 in kindergarten," she says.
"It is important for me to explain how difficult it is for me and many other parents to leave the children at home. There are quite a few parents who have to take time off from work, so that they can be at home with the children, but the safety of the children comes first."
The mother says that during the alarms, the children are supposed to wait in a small corridor leading to the yard, which is the safest space in the kindergarten. "What frustrates us the most is that just two years ago the pigeon garden was moved next to the dolphin garden, and during the move an extensive renovation was carried out, which included the construction of a new entrance and reorganization of the yard. We don't understand why we didn't build an MMD as part of the renovation. It is not new that we live in a disaster-prone area that is always under security threat, it was expected that we would need a protected place for the children. Today, in every new building or apartment, it is mandatory to build an emergency room, so why wasn't this taken care of as part of the kindergarten renovation? The feeling is that our children are being abandoned without a response. Since the beginning of the fighting in the north, the children have stayed at home and run to the emergency room at every alarm. When my son heard that he was supposed to go back to kindergarten, he asked: 'Mom, where will we go when there is an alarm if there is no EMS?' How am I supposed to send him to kindergarten in such a condition?"
The parents point out that there have been similar cases in which a kindergarten did not meet the safety requirements, transferred its activities to the community center and they wonder why a similar option is not considered for their kindergarten as well.
result known in advance
The parents addressed a joint letter to the Haifa Municipality: "How is it possible that the Haifa Municipality takes responsibility for the lives of our children, or more precisely - abdicates its responsibility completely and abandons their fate? In the event of a direct hit or interception above the building, the result is known in advance. According to the new outline "The most protected there is", we are supposed to send our children to a kindergarten that does not have a safety net or any protected space. Unfortunately, the structure of the kindergarten is very old, and it does not have any protected space that can protect our children. How can we send 30 children aged 3 to 5 to such a kindergarten? One to take control of such a number of children during an alarm?"
The Haifa Municipality responded:
"Both kindergartens are in the work plan of the Haifa municipality for protection. In the last year, improvements to protection and the construction of new protected spaces were carried out in about 220 kindergartens. Currently, when an alarm sounds, in accordance with the instructions, the children go to a "protected structure" in accordance with the definition of the Home Front Command, and therefore the kindergartens are operating as usual".
Lihav has no grandchildren in Haifa, after yesterday he had to strengthen his studies from home before there would be a general disaster. As Bibi does not care that the war continues, his sons did not enlist. The same Lihav.
Bring your grandchildren to Haifa and send them to a kindergarten or school without a protected space.
And what about the rest of Haifa's children in all the schools that do not have a protected space??? All of Haifa is in this state!!!
The parents are right. Good night and blessed to you.
Ms. Miti's response, "Throwing at the Home Front Command"
I continue the response.
The Home Front Command was established to respond to the residents
Behavior in an emergency situation. They are not
Responsible for building a shelter for the residents. the main thing
They have no means of payment. The responsibility in my opinion
of the municipal leadership. The time has come
Take responsibility!
The Home Front Command also circles the corners of the "protected space" that my son goes to. How is this a protected space?
Like any body, we are turning corners at the expense of our children!
And in short, they throw responsibility on the frontline command. Not only in kindergartens but the owner of the schools. There is not enough space in the city for all the children. Some sat in the corridor under the windows with their hands on their heads. Instead of 3 layers at home and 3 layers at school, thus reducing the number of children. Everyone clarifies (throws responsibility for the children's safety) on the Home Front Command who probably does not live in the country. It's so outrageous and there's no one to talk to. It is impossible not to send the children because school continues. In high school this is... you can't leave it at home because there are graduations. I really feel that the children are being sent into danger and no one cares
