Tel Lakish - a new visitor center was inaugurated by RTG - a photo tour

(haipo) - The city of Lachish, one of the most important cities in the Kingdom of Judah, experienced an exciting innovation in September 2024: a new visitor center was inaugurated that offers a unique and fascinating experience for visitors. In this center you can find an amazing light and sound show, which is a gateway to the glorious past of the city and its rich history. The reliefs displayed there, which are an exact copy of archaeological findings found in Iraq, connect us not only to local history but also to the entire human heritage.

Experiences from the visitor center: a connection between tourists and Israeli heritage

The visitor center not only provides information about the history of Lachish, but is also a center of attraction for tourists from around the country and the world, especially at a time when Israel is engaged in a campaign on the northern border and the sites in the north are effectively closed. The two-hour tour includes comprehensive guidance, in which the director, Sigal Birkenfeld, accompanies the visitors and creates an organized and interesting experience. The combination of knowledge, story and a trip to Tel allows everyone to feel the history flowing through their veins.

Exciting archaeological finds: findings that tell a story

Among the fascinating findings uncovered at the site, there are a deep water well, the remains of a palace and a blown-up altar. On the site you can see a display of the thrones of the kings who ruled Lachish over the years. The information about the coronation age of the kings is particularly interesting, as some of them were crowned at an incredibly young age. This figure raises questions about the nature of the government in the Kingdom of Judah, and reminds us that history was not always as we thought...

Vineyards and wine: agriculture that was and remains

The site is in the heart of the vineyard area, which indicates that life here has not changed much over the thousands of years. The livelihood that was based on wine vineyards continues to exist even today, with many wineries producing quality wine from the local vineyards. The connection between history and modern life is present in every corner, and emphasizes the deep connection between the local residents and the land.

Thanks to the Nature and Gardens Authority: experiences that connect the past to the present

Finally, we must thank the Nature and Parks Authority for the opportunity to experience the special history of Lachish. Visiting the place not only provides information about the past, but also connects us to the creativity and beauty of Israeli culture. Happy holiday everyone, and we'd love to see you here!
