(live here in the sea) - Dor Beach is considered one of the most beautiful and impressive beaches in Israel, with its clear waters, unique kurkar surfaces and small islands scattered along the coast. The fine sandy bed that is pleasant to the touch attracts bathers of all ages, and the natural beauty of the place adds to the peaceful atmosphere that prevails there. At the same time, there are also hidden sides of the beach, which are worth getting to know.

Invasive species from the Red Sea - new but dangerous underwater beauty

In the last two years, there has been an increase in the invasion of foreign species from the Red Sea to Israel's shores, and these are affecting the local ecosystem. Certain parts of Dor Beach are currently used as hiding places for young fish from the invasive species, which threatens the native species. This phenomenon may lead to future friction between the invasive species, the local species, and the humans who use the beach.

Deadly nature during storms

Although the waters of Dor Beach look calm and peaceful on calm days, the terrain changes dramatically when the sea is rough and stormy. The divers beyond the huge formation tables cannot ignore blue and mysterious pits, created over centuries of the erosion of the currents and waves in the rocks. These pits, which have a conical structure, can become a death trap when the sea is rough, with strong currents and water oats endangering everyone in the water.

Dangers to travelers and fishermen

The treacherous surfaces on the beach, covered with slippery algae and calcium-secreting animals, pose a danger to hikers and fishermen alike. The dangers are heightened in rough seas, where strong currents and waves can sweep anyone off the rocky surface. The fishermen who fish on the shoal surfaces on the coast should be especially careful, since the marine life in these places is diverse and impressive, but the holes and currents hidden in the surface may make the area dangerous.

Dor Beach - a historical natural treasure

Dor Beach is not only spectacular in its natural beauty, but also rich in ancient and new history. You can find the remains of an ancient mosque, the remains of an ancient water well and other signs indicating a rich history. The combination between the magical landscape and the ancient history make the beach a center of attraction not only for bathers and divers, but also for travelers and the curious.

At the same time, it is important to remember that safety comes first. The spectacular sights of the beach may be deceiving, but beware of the hidden dangers in the place. We wish everyone a happy and peaceful new year, and that all the abductees will soon return to their homes in peace.

    • Have a good week Rony. Let the company know so they will be careful.
      better times.

  2. Thanks for the creepy article, we were thinking of going there, but we had an anxiety attack, we'll probably give up....

    • Hello opponent
You can quietly go there and enjoy every moment.
Dangers are everywhere, and I also mentioned that when the sea is especially rough, leaving the bay is dangerous, but this is true everywhere.
Bathers do not come to these points because there is nothing to look for there, so go and enjoy a clean beach, clear water and ample parking.
      Happy holiday

  3. The area is amazing, the photographs are special, maritime archeology at its best, thank you Motty Mendelson and happy and peaceful holidays

  4. Our dear Moti. Thank you for another fascinating article full of spectacular photos. Your article made us want to and yesterday we went to Dor beach to swim. We were careful according to your recommendations and we had a great time. How good it is to have you as a true and rare athlete with a huge heart

  5. First, everyone who enters there when there are storms, and secondly, it is not an ancient mosque. There was a settlement called Tantura in the place until the War of Independence.

    • Hi Eli Kopter
The history is known, and not pleasant.
And yes you are right during storms it is hell.

  6. Thank you dear Moti
Without you I wouldn't know the magical world down there.
    Charming, exciting, wonderful.
At least you had fun and with photos and an explanation like yours, I feel there without getting wet.
    🤩🤩🤩

    • Shabbat Shalom Nitza and thank you very much.
You have to get wet to take pictures, but it's great fun.
And there is almost no diving without results.
      Continue a quiet week

    • Thank you very much Mordechai Erez.
There is so much to photograph there.
      have a nice week.

  7. Thank you very much, it is important that we know the dangers. Beautiful and special article and photographs. Merry Christmas💐

    • Wow, what spectacular and explanatory photos!
      Thank you for your professionalism!
It's a shame they didn't set up a diving club there that allows diving dives...

  8. And we will also add the rig located near the Dor coast in exactly the place that is so sensitive to earthquakes... Dor break and of course, the threat of missiles from the north, because as is known in the process of refining natural gas we also receive a substance called condensate which contains carcinogenic substances.

    • Hello, I love the sea
      known also known
Every human touch in the sea is the destruction of nature.
      And the repair takes decades.

    • Thank you very much Michael.

There are many other beautiful places in Israel.
      Shabbat Shalom and happy holiday

    • Thank you Mickey
Indeed, when the sea is rough, the place is dangerous.
Have a good and peaceful week

  9. Spectacular beauty of the sea
We also need signage on the beach that warns of the dangers
    Especially on underwater pits
I myself did not know how many dangers there were there

    • Hello Or, you are right
Common sense says not to approach in rough seas. But it seems that there is a warning presentation on the beach

    • Happy holiday Mickey
Also in my personal opinion...and also a fenced beach
      Happy holiday

    • Peace
I would be happy to know how the round pits were created and so symmetrical..?

  10. Fascinating article and spectacular photos... a refreshing breath of fresh air in a difficult reality lately... a place to relax from the plethora of hard news... and warnings in place. How nice that an article like this is published in the media...
