(haipo) - Dr. Eran Markovich, the veterinarian who was part of the Haifa "Zer Baali Haim" team, passed away after a battle with an incurable disease. He will be laid to rest today, Tuesday 15/10/24 at 16:00 PM, at the Kiryat Motzkin cemetery.
More than 20 years ago, Dr. Markovitch joined the 'Tzar Baali Haim' team in Haifa. Over the years, Markovitch stood out for his extraordinary professional compassion, and his heart-touching humanity towards every living being.
"It's still hard for me to digest and accept the news," says Shaul Lapid, the director of the association, sadly.
"He came to us as a young veterinarian who had just graduated, opened a clinic and joined a team with older veterinarians. He stayed with us for almost 21 years and became not only a co-worker, but a close friend and family member."
"A huge hole that cannot be filled"
One of the things that made Dr. Markovich so special was the human connection he created with everyone around him. "We became a family," says Lapid. "On Yom Kippur he would always offer to help clean the kennel, if we were stuck in an emergency, he would come Immediately, even if it was in the middle of Friday dinner. He was a loyal friend who always offered help."
Beyond his excellent human relations and the personal relationships he created around him, Dr. Markovich also had an extraordinary technological talent. He left us a huge hole that cannot be filled."
"A huge loss for all of us"
Technology is not the only field in which Markovich has shown extraordinary talent. Above all, he was an excellent veterinarian and a first-class surgeon. "He had golden hands. He was a talented, quick and precise surgeon, he was able to perform a number of surgeries at a crazy pace," Lapid says painfully. "This loss is huge for all of us."
"Suddenly everything changed"
The shock and pain appeared when, in January 2023, Dr. Markovich told his members in the association that tumors were discovered in his head. "He was a handsome, attractive man, and kept himself jealous. He was an avid athlete, followed a strict diet, rode a bicycle, windsurfed and rode long distances on heavy motorcycles. He was a type full of life and energy, and then, suddenly, everything changed," says Lapid.
For a year and a half he did not function in the association and the staff is having difficulty filling the void he left. "He left behind a wife and two daughters, and an extended family that insisted on keeping his clinic open," says Lapid excitedly and then adds: "This loss will continue to accompany us for a long time."
May his memory be blessed. She will take care of any animal that wandered the streets. She will pick it up at the clinic.

We have lost many good ones, similarly, in the last two or three years.
