(haipo) - Exactly one year to the events of 7/10/23, a garden was dedicated at Akim Haifa's school in memory of the late Ruth Peretz, who was murdered with her father Eric, the late, at the Nova party.
During the events of 7/10/23 and the terrible massacre that took place at the Nova party, Ruth Peretz and her father, the late Eric, were murdered. Ruth, a student of Akim Haifa's "Gan Or" school, did not have time to move to the new special education school complex that was established in recent years in the territories of Kfar Bialik and opened a few months ago. This morning (Monday, 7/10/24), a memorial garden was inaugurated in her memory at the school gates.

The late Ruth's classmates watered the recently planted plants and held a short ceremony with her teachers. "Eric and Ruth just wanted to dance and have fun. They were brutally murdered while embracing. Their bond was so special, and Eric did not agree that the disability would prevent Ruth from living life to the fullest. She was the whole world to him, the sun, the moon and the stars, and he was the safe place for her, the man she trusted.
In the last year we mentioned and talked about Ruth in the classroom lessons, in the pool training that she loved and in the many leisure activities. Ruth will be with us forever," says Ranin Hourani, director of Akim Haifa's "Gan Or" school.
The special education school and day center for graduates of the Akim Haifa association are considered the most up-to-date education and rehabilitation complex in the northern region, and house about 100 women and men with various disabilities. In the new complex, which was established with the assistance of the Ministry of Education, National Insurance and Keren Shalem, the General Custodian and the Daskal Endowment and in full cooperation with the Zebulon Regional Council, there are three wings and a courtyard, which operate as separate units but are linked together to create a therapeutic continuum.
Itzik Perry and Roni Tzvik, members of the executive committee of the Akim Haifa association, took on the project of establishing the memorial garden. "As the father of a daughter with a disability who lives in community housing, I can testify to the unique connection that we, the parents of special children, have with our special children. For me, the establishment of the memorial garden for the late Ruth is a particularly exciting event. I cannot describe what went through Eric and Ruth from the moment the inhuman massacre began. I'm sure that even now they are hugging and watching over each other," said Tsvik.
Renana Tuito, Ruth's former teacher at Akim Haifa's "Gan Or" school, wrote to her:
"Dear Ruth, I had the privilege of teaching you in our class for two years, including getting to know you and watching you grow for about 10 years. A wise girl, knows what she loves and wants, wrapped in the infinite love of father Eric. I also came to visit you at your home, it was obvious how much she loved you. The swing, the television, your dolls, everything so that you are surrounded by things that make you feel good. I remember your desire to receive a hug when you were afraid of a loud voice, I imagine how scared you must have been in the last moments of terror and there was no one to give a hug. It was clear to everyone the special connection that only Dad has Erik and you.
Ruth knew what she wanted - knew how to ask to drink, sleep, cover up, knew how to ask to go for a walk, knew how to say no and stand her ground. I remember Ruthie's little hand grabbing my fingers and getting excited, a little girl who just asked to be loved. We wish Lamit, Yaarit and mother Eleanor, strength and reinforcements to get through this all-too-difficult period. We will miss you Ruth."
very exciting May their memory be enshrined forever.
