Parking lots in Haifa that were open to the public will become paid parking lots with the approval of the city council

(haipo) - The Municipal Finance Committee approved parking rates in several parking lots in the city, which until now were open to the public free of charge. The decision was made after examining the needs and costs of maintaining the parking lots and improving their accessibility, and will be brought up for final approval at the city council meeting that will be held today (Tue. 8/10/24) after the meeting planned for last week was postponed due to the security situation.

Central parking lots in the city

The parking lots included in the decision are central parking lots in the city, including: the Metm complex, the Intel parking lot, the Congress Center parking lot, the Hamona Center parking lot, the Bat Galim parking lot (Rabel and Aliya Shania) and the Rambam Hospital parking lot.

Among the updates required for the parking lots are the regulation of traffic in the parking lots, improving their access and accessibility, and turning them into managed parking lots with regulated entry and exit systems.

  • Congress Center parking lot Covering 4,300 square meters and containing 207 parking spaces, it will become a managed parking lot with improved accessibility and safety.
  • בBat Galim parking lot (cable car) which covers an area of 2,000 square meters and has 42 parking spaces, the complex will be paved, lighting will be added and traffic will be regulated.
  • The second elevation parking lot (Bat Galim) which covers an area of 1,891 square meters and includes 50 parking spaces will become a managed parking lot and will include infrastructure and access improvements.

  1. And by the way, speaking of, why not invest budgets if for the benefit of the public in security in public transportation, like for example every Monday and Thursday Arabs beat up Jews in the matron, like with the girls who attacked young pro-Palestinian Arabs, and also a religious boy, and many other residents, there were endless articles about this. Where is such a thing heard that it will pass in silence?! Need security urgently!!

  2. The barren that residents asked for and received was killing pigs. The beard is eternal and the license is not important.

  3. You really can't live here anymore. From all directions there are terrorists outside and inside the country and inside the country they are only raising prices for everything to pay and pay...

  4. After all, everyone knows that every election a mayor is chosen on a party basis, and only when the municipality collects outrageous taxes, do you remember to make complaints, how about announcing that you will not vote for a mayor who imposes annoying taxes on you - and you will also carry out the threat in the mayoral elections!!

  5. It's very simple not to park in paid parking lots, that's the only way they'll learn. As far as I'm concerned, he traveled by bus

  6. Hahahahaha what a fool of a municipality
This is what you are dealing with now
First repair all the damage left by the previous one
    Yona Yahav you are disappointing

    • The main thing is that they petitioned the Ministry of Finance that they think it is immoral that the Carmel tunnels charge money from the residents of Haifa. It's because the money just doesn't go directly to their pockets. Instead, they will charge for the only parking lots in Haifa that do not cost money, with the poor excuse that it is to cover maintenance costs for the residents of Haifa so that there will be lighting in the place and it will be tidy, a joke! I manage fine without their "order" which will now cost more money and limit the freedom of action. They are looking for excuses to collect from residents to cover debts. And they do a favor to make it look like they turned out okay. Instead of 60 shekels a day for those who are not residents of Haifa, wow, 42 shekels a day for those who are residents of Haifa. Now I feel special... greedy..!!

  7. Why is the rate for Haifa residents 25% the same as for Tel Aviv residents in parking lots?
Why in Haifa do you have to make the residents busy and not think about them at all - like the case of the Carmel tunnels. shame.

  8. And how did they know who was a resident of the city and who was not? We will need a "resident card" How much are the costs for the whole mechanism that accompanies this... What is the cost of paving the parking lots and why? Asphalt parking lot = increasing the problem of the emitted heat and of course less water seepage areas. Who tested these things?
A bit of a public participation process?

  9. They were nice before the elections, now they are starting to harass the residents, to increase profits for the municipality and their fat salaries!

  10. Such audacity, even the little, even this is taken, making us wonder where we have come to? I urge everyone not to come to parking lots that pay!!! And secondly, what about the disabled, why don't we talk about it, what is it because they are disabled... Yona Yahav, I am terribly sorry that I chose you.

  11. Obviously, how will they bring money into the municipality? Really brash, while all the municipalities and members receive a high salary and are sure that they are exempt from paying for parking, the ordinary citizens who survive day to day in addition to the war that limits working hours, will have to pay for parking as well, calls Yona Yahav from the map - enough with all these decrees, there are enough donors Those who open their pockets and put capital into the municipality, should not take from the less organized citizens

  12. The height of audacity. The time has come to take care of the cleanliness of the streets, the appearance of the houses and yards facing the streets, the appearance of the city in general. Do not cut down trees without realizing it.... To make sure that it is pleasant to live in this city and not to arouse a desire to run away from it.

  13. It is not in the interest of any citizen. It's for the benefit of the municipality's pocket and there won't be any improvement here.. they'll just turn it into a money squeezer.. and it's very sad that that's the case.
You don't have to screw the citizens, you can also let them enjoy the benefit of the doubt.
I work in Rambam and even so, the parking situation there is terrible.. Unfortunately, you cannot rely on public transportation, as there are always train line closures or maintenance of one kind or another. And it's really not pleasant to travel in a matron..

  14. Shame on you, don't allow residents to park without worrying and run to look for the payment point, shame on you and shame on you again, shame on you

  15. shame!!!! shame!!!!! shame!!!!! Instead of facilitating and even opening the IDF parking lot in Agad in times of war...is this what they're dealing with? That they will come in to see movies... but enough with this messing around... or maybe they will offset the destruction of the landscape on the slopes of Lincoln??? The city leaders have lost their compass... and what are you going to do for your constituents and not against them??? For the improvements in the parking lots and thank you.. and leave us alone please..

    • In two words - pigs for the sake of it. Instead of taking care of cleaner streets, improving the appearance of the neighborhoods, like the Hadar neighborhood for example, harming the comfort of the citizens, with excessive property tax payments. There is no need for "routine maintenance" for the existing parking lots. Let live in peace (as long as possible).

  16. gall!
You are only looking for a way to strangle the residents.
Returning home with his fat drunkenness and simple residents finance your life of luxury.
Nothing is done for the benefit of the city.
Even I, born in Haifa, am considering leaving the city. A disgrace!

  17. Illumination for the transformation of the previously open parking lots
For the paid parking lot, in the past there were thefts of
    catalytic converter (mainly Toyota),
Will there be security in the parking lots today?
Not only at the entrance but a physical/motorized tour,
Or then of course the parking will be paid. incidentally
The Rambam parking lot, intended mainly for hospital staff
Will a price be charged today? Or space will be allocated to the hospital.

  18. The insolence of the municipality drives opacity
These days it was what was most important
that they reduce the salaries of the seniors

  19. Just rude. Even so, you don't get any compensation for the toll from this municipality, with the highest toll in the country! So you also take the few good things??? disgrace

  20. Calling all residents from here to avoid and come to buy in places where you also pay for parking. It's called oshak.

  21. An excellent solution.
In this way, the municipality's expenses will be reduced and will be charged only to those who use the parking lots.
All city residents who previously financed the parking lots will now receive a property tax credit.

  22. Bob Maiss!
Another way to put a hand in the pockets of the residents. What happened that suddenly after so many years, when everything worked as it should, there is a need to "regulate the traffic in the parking lots, improve their access and accessibility, and turn them into managed parking lots with regulated entry and exit systems".
