Chava Gonen, the darling of the city of Haifa and one of the prominent figures in the local culture, passed away at the age of 93. Gonen was a central figure in the field of education and culture in the city of Haifa, and served over the years in many public positions, while leaving a deep mark on the local community.

Community and educational work
Gonen, who received great recognition for her contribution to the city, has been involved in community and educational activities since the 60s. She dedicated her life to the education of the younger generation, and worked to promote social and educational programs for the residents of Haifa. At the same time, she contributed a lot to the promotion of culture and art in the city, as she participated in the establishment of significant projects that influenced entire generations of residents.
During her life, Chava Gonen won many awards, including the title "Darling of the City of Haifa", given to her in recognition of her continuous contribution to the city and its residents. Many friends, relatives and students who met her over the years described her as a generous, educated, and beloved woman, who always had an attentive ear to the problems and needs of those around her.
The funeral will be held this coming Monday 30/09/24 at 16:15 PM in the city cemetery. The city of Haifa bows its head to the memory of Chava Gonen, and expresses its condolences to her family and friends.

Chava Gonen was my music teacher in the elementary grades at the Leo Buck school. She was the conductor of the school choir. May her memory be blessed.
Her father, the late Dr. Mansbacher, was the legendary pediatrician from Elhanan Street.
