In the days when the challenges are only increasing, especially in the north of the country, there are people who not only continue to excel in their field but also go above and beyond for the community. Dov Melnik, former national swimming champion, is a clear example of such a person.
Shimon Sebag, who heads the association, expressed his deep appreciation for Melnik:
In days like this, finding a person who comes and donates his time and money for Holocaust survivors and for the families in the north, is a blessed thing. Without Dov Melnik we would be in a lot of trouble today. His contribution and presence in the field give us the strength to continue helping those who really need it.
Melnik, known for his impressive sports skills, decided during this difficult time to lend a hand to the association 'Yad Ezer Chavere', which helps Holocaust survivors and needy families. He donated his money to purchase hundreds of food packages that will be distributed in the coming days, just before Rosh Hashanah. In addition, Melnik is not satisfied with a financial contribution alone - he himself volunteers in distributing food packages to families in the north, from Dan to Kiryat Shmona.
Prof. Bill Freeman, a longtime partner in the association's activities, also joined in the thanks and said:
Melnik proves that a true championship is not measured only by medals, but also by giving and being able to help others in the most difficult moments.
Melnik's activity in the association demonstrates the importance of volunteerism and mutual help, especially in times of difficulty and distress. This outstanding athlete not only sets a high bar in competitions, but also in giving to the community. The Yad Ezer Havre association thanks him from the bottom of our hearts and invites the public to join and donate, to ensure that everyone who needs assistance receives it.
Towards Rosh Hashanah, we should all take an example from Dov Melnik and extend a hand, each one according to his ability, for those who need it the most.
