The project "Talk to me" aims to raise awareness among parents and educational staff of the importance of oral therapy and creating opportunities to develop dialogue with babies and toddlers. The mayor, Dodo Cohen: "In the Carmel Castle, education starts from the age of birth, and not just as a slogan."
The Municipality of Tirat Carmel is launching an urban project, the first of its kind in the country, which aims to develop the oral richness of preschoolers.
Mayor, Dodo Cohen:
At the Carmel Castle, education begins from birth, and not just as a slogan. Encouraging dialogue with toddlers up to the age of three at eye level will directly affect the realization of their potential in all fields, both as students in the education system and as mature, thinking and contributing citizens. Therefore, it is an educational foundation whose fruits we will reap as a society. I am proud that the Carmel Castle is leading a pioneering move on a national scale, and I am convinced that we will serve as an example for other authorities in this field as well. successfully!
"Talk to me - Carmel Castle promotes language as a key to success"
The project, "Talk to me - Carmel Castle promotes language as a key to success", aims to raise awareness among educational staff and parents of the importance of oral care and to create opportunities to develop dialogue with babies and toddlers. In the background of the project are studies, which indicate that a wealth of languages and good communication skills, which are acquired at an early stage, will pave the children for success in life, because the ability to understand and express is an infrastructure for learning, reading and writing and social connections.
Within this framework, a diverse set of activities will be implemented with the many partners of the project: further training and programs will be held within the day care centers; Emphasis will be placed on the language in trainings for parents; Many activities will be held for parents and toddlers, along with an urban campaign calling on parents to increase verbal interaction with their children by talking, playing and reading books. Partners in the project included municipal departments and community organizations, who joined the preschool department and the preschool center in establishing a municipal forum to promote the language as a key to success. The head of the "Talk to Itay" initiative, the main partner of the municipality in leading the move in the Carmel Castle, is Tali Admoni-Verdi.
Emi Apomedo, MM and deputy mayor and holder of the education portfolio:
This is an extremely important project, groundbreaking, unique and the first of its kind in Israel. The project aims to provide an early response in the early age in the oral aspect, as part of the city's concept that education begins at birth, and it emphasizes the participation of parents - they are the first to want the best for their children, and the more involved they are in the process, the greater the chances of success.
The project received the blessing of the mayor, Dodo Cohen, who considers the investment in early childhood in general and the promotion of the language in particular part of the municipal education vision. The "Talk to me" initiative will be officially launched at a city event that will take place on Tuesday, September 17, 9 at Nahal Galim Park, where participants will enjoy a variety of activities: yoga for the little ones, soap bubbles, creative stations and a musical performance.
At the same time, a city campaign will be launched in which the city's residents, parents and preschool children take part and have their pictures taken for posters that will be placed throughout the city and in the relevant educational institutions.
Dr. Anat Bar, Director of Early Childhood in the Tirat Carmel Municipality:
The project that builds skin and sinews is the result of a long and very significant effort by the project team, the leadership of the municipality, the many partners that it is time to thank all of them, and of course the project team and the staff of the preschool center. I want to believe that placing emphasis on communication and language among preschool children will be a point of strength for them , to their families and the entire city community.
