IDF spokesman's announcement:
During the night (11/9/24, between Tuesday and Wednesday) an "Owl" helicopter of the Air Force, as part of a mission to evacuate an injured fighter for medical treatment at the hospital, crashed in the Rafah area during landing.
From a preliminary investigation, it appears that the crash was not caused by enemy fire.
The cause of the crash is still being investigated. There was no change in the operational activity of the Air Force.
As a result of the helicopter crash, two IDF soldiers were killed, a message was given to their families, their names have not yet been released and will be published later.
In the event, seven other fighters were injured in various ways, who were evacuated to receive medical treatment at a hospital and their families were informed.
After the incident, the commander of the Air Force, General Tomer Bar, appointed a military investigation committee on the matter to look into the circumstances of the incident.
