Cracking a bribery case against a senior employee of the Tax Authority who, along with others, allegedly pocketed a cumulative sum of approximately NIS 4 million. On Tuesday, 3/9/24, Hof district policemen led by the Fraud Squad raided and arrested 17 suspects of involvement.
During the last two years, the officers of the Coastal District Fraud Division, in cooperation with the Internal Audit Division and the Security and Cyber Division of the Tax Authority, conducted an undercover investigation against a senior employee in the tax authority's northern region assessor's office.
According to the suspicion that was revealed in an internal audit by the Tax Authority, the suspect acted systematically by fraudulently issuing tax refunds to non-resident taxpayers and then taking the credit money for himself together with others in an aggregate amount of over four million NIS.

According to the method, the suspects who are, among other things, employees of the tax authority, accountants, brothers in hospitals and more, joined together to launder the sums of money that came in and transfer them to two central suspects in the case.
Today, with the transition of the investigation to the open side, police officers of the Coast District raided the homes of 17 suspects and detained them for questioning for the offenses of money laundering, forgery, receiving something fraudulently and breach of trust. Most of the suspects are residents of Haifa and the north who were allegedly "recruited" by the main suspect for the purpose of money laundering.
