(haipo) - On Friday, August 30, 2024, a tour to get to know the Tel Aharon branch was held with the participation of dozens of Haifa residents. The tour led the participants through the mountain paths, while exposing them to the special beauty of the summer plants and the open landscape seen from the mountain ridge. The participants were amazed by the natural wealth found so close to their home.

The fear of approving the construction plans in the valleys

The Tel Aharon trail and the slopes it overlooks are in danger of extinction if the new construction plan for the Lincoln and Tel Aharon slopes is approved. These plans include the construction of new neighborhoods that will completely change the face of the area's natural landscape. Environmental activists and residents are calling for the construction to be stopped in order to preserve the unique nature of the Haifa valleys.

Another tour for the opportunity to get to know nature up close
In light of the great interest, another familiarization tour will be held on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at 17:00 p.m. The meeting point will be in Aharon Alley, behind Carmel Hospital. The tour, which will last about an hour, is another opportunity to get to know the wonderful nature that is within walking distance of the house and to understand the great importance of preserving it.

Thanks to the dedicated guides
Ehud Sbirsky, Tali Moab and Assaf Ben Levy led the tour along the paths, explaining the local flora and the importance of preserving the unique nature of the area. The activists emphasize that there is no substitute for the existing nature, and call on the public to oppose the construction plans that threaten the future of Huadith.

Tour details

  • The tour is organized voluntarily by environmental activists and participation in it is the responsibility of the participant.
  • The tour will begin on Friday, 30/8/24, at 17:00 p.m.
  • The meeting point: Aharon Alley, next to the information station that will be placed in the area.

A new neighborhood on four valleys

The "Lincoln Tel Aharon" plan is a plan to establish a new neighborhood on a huge scale on the slopes of Western Carmel. It is expected to destroy the unique nature in Haifa, damage the natural values of no less than 4 wadis. The neighborhood planned for construction on both sides of Freud Road will create unimaginable quarrying in the mountain and its slopes, drainage plans that will create, during rains, severe flooding on the slopes, the construction of dozens of high-rise buildings, new two-lane access roads and interchanges that will allow entrances and exits to the neighborhood.

Tel Aharon trail

Volunteer residents and activists of the 'For Haifa' group continue to lead you on tours of the local nature trails, in the wadis and the Carmel outposts in order to raise awareness of the nature that is near the house and which is constantly threatened by construction plans. This Friday, 30/08/24, the residents of the neighborhood and the activists of the struggle to prevent the Lincoln Plan, together with the activists of the group 'For Haifa', will lead a tour to a lookout for Tel Aharon, which is about to disappear. A short walk along a path that is partly shaded and partly exposed, between a natural forest and seasonal vegetation in front of the Mediterranean view that characterizes our western valleys.

We meet in Tel Aharon Alley (behind Carmel Hospital) near the information station that will be operated by the residents of the neighborhood and activists in the fight against the construction. There is no need to register in advance, there is no payment, and the traveler is responsible for verifying the degree of difficulty of the route, the route of the route and exercising his best judgment while walking.

  1. The fate of Huadiot in Haifa is complete destruction - asphalt roads, huge neighborhoods, wild quarries.
You, the left-wing seniors, chose Yona Yahav and he will reward you with total contractual destruction for the Ofer family and the other land robbers and the vassals.
You wanted it, you got it. And managed to bribe the opposition in the positions of deputy ministers so that they would advance the total destruction with him.
Again: this is who you chose, this is what you will get.
No non-Etzionist candidate, Yahav, nor his father or Sharit, said they would cancel the construction plans on the western slopes of the recent open fields. They are all in the pockets of the contractors. This is what you chose, this is what you will get.
The Haifa municipality will pay hundreds of millions of shekels for road infrastructure, roads and the construction of retaining walls for destructive neighborhoods that will turn the green valleys into another gray singer's hill, another Ramat Hadar with blown concrete monsters on all the slopes. This is who you chose, this is what you will get.

  2. People wake up
They will build there and not ask

    Stop to think!!
But this is an article to promote the sale of the apartments
Who doesn't want an apartment on the side of a mountain...

  3. You live in a movie people. The Druze are building in every forest plot in the Carmel Forest Reserve on land that is not for building at all and here on a wretched hill you want to stop the construction process. Where do you want people to live? on the moon? The city has all lost its way. Whoever walks around the Modiin, Shoham, Rishon LeZion, Ashkol area will discover endless dog parks, parks, and public spaces. And only here there is nothing and you are fighting to preserve a lifeless mountainside. It is better to build in the places or to join them in the just war of the invasion of the Carmel reserve, but in front of our Druze brothers, they are all zeros. You will fight to sink the train line and release the strip of the train for construction and green areas that connect Neve David and the sea. Fight for the removal of polluting factories from the Gulf. Fight for an airport at sea and fight for jobs in Haifa that we won't need to drive 4 hours on the roads every day to make a living.

    • In Haifa there are no less than tens of thousands of empty housing units, most of them abandoned for decades because real estate agents prefer to destroy green lungs on the cheap rather than renovate old apartments. On top of that, Haifa is just at the beginning of a massive urban renewal campaign that will add tens of thousands more housing units. At the same time, a number of huge projects are being promoted, such as Naut Peres B (which is already in an advanced planning stage and is expected to be one of the largest neighborhoods in Haifa).
The problem in Haifa is not a lack of housing, but the exact opposite, a lack of people - and you can see this very well when you compare housing prices in Haifa to any other central city in Israel. If the municipality would focus more on the development of high-tech centers, the development of tourism, culture and restaurants, then maybe people would start coming here and then, then we could start worrying about a housing shortage.
In the meantime, we will fight for the little nature left in the city, the same nature we like to talk about when we talk about the unique beauty of Haifa, which we will never give up, just like the residents of Manhattan will not think of giving up Central Park, despite the housing shortage and traffic jams.

  4. I wish the struggle much success. Every day I see the wild construction in Haifa neighborhoods, which destroys the unique landscape of the city.
Those who approve these programs are guilty.

  5. In the end, where will people live on the planet Mars?... The country is growing and multiplying, God willing...

    • The country is not growing. I wish it had grown to a size suitable for the large number of people in it. Still, in the Negev dozens of kilometers are deserted from people...

  6. nothing to worry about
Pensioners and pensioners of the municipality of Haifa prepared, probably on purpose, a plan that has no chance of being approved. As explained at the local committee meeting, the plan was submitted due to the charge of the district court.
The municipality will now present tens of thousands of objections and claim in court that it cannot act in front of its citizens.
Apparently, the payment of an initial compensation of NIS 300 million does not move the municipality.
