The "Galil-Carmel" rescue unit told Lahi Fe:
The volunteers of the "Galil-Carmel" rescue unit completed a very complex rescue a short time ago. This is a 30-year-old hiker from Modi'in Elit, who hiked in the stream with a group of hikers. Under unclear circumstances, he broke away from the group, and in an attempt to return to the group, his way was lost in the field and he ended up on a rock step in a tangled area.
As a result, the rescue was very challenging and complex. Due to the heavy heat and his location in the field, there was fear for his life. Furthermore, the rescuer's cell phone had no battery and no GPS.
The volunteers of the "Galil-Carmel" rescue unit split up and entered the stream from several channels and searched it thoroughly. After about three hours he was found safe and sound. During the rescue, two other events occurred that made it difficult for the rescuer. In the first, the unit's paramedic tripped and injured his head, and the unit's medic gave him medical treatment and he was rescued from the area. In the second incident, during the scans in the river, another hiker was located suffering from heatstroke and the unit medic gave him medical treatment that included fluid infusion and cooling. Both were evacuated with an MDA ambulance to the hospital.
