(haipo) - More than 300 grams of drugs were seized by the Tirat Carmel municipal police and supervision units.
The Tirat Carmel municipal police unit, in cooperation with auxiliary inspectors of the municipality, seized a vehicle over the weekend containing substances suspected to be a cannabis-type drug weighing more than 300 grams.
The seizure was carried out as part of an operational activity by police officers and inspectors of the municipal policing unit, who recently increased patrols throughout the city to detect crimes in the public space.
In this framework, a checkpoint was carried out on the night between Thursday and Friday (23/8/24) to check vehicles in Carmel Castle. During the activity, a vehicle that noticed the checkpoint made a U-turn against the direction of traffic and fled the scene. At the end of a foot chase by the inspectors, the suspect was caught, and a search of the vehicle revealed the materials divided into portions and allegedly ready for trade and distribution. Also, a large amount of cash was seized from the vehicle, suspected to be the proceeds of criminal activity.
The suspect, a Kiryat Bialik resident in his 30s, was arrested and brought to the station for questioning.
