(lives here on the beaches) - The summer is in full swing, the high temperatures are well felt, and if there is something that can be comforted in the steamy heat, it is the sea. The residents of the Kerios wait all year for the bathing season, just so they can enjoy and spend time at the beaches. Now, to their disappointment, they find themselves faced with a beach whose area is getting smaller and smaller - something that, although familiar to them from previous years, is unfortunate and disappointing every time.

I am, of course, referring to the phenomenon of the retreat of the sand that occurs mainly on the Kiryat Haim beach, every year - and every year it is treated by feeding sand. Although the method in which the feeding is carried out this year is more sophisticated and advanced and is carried out professionally and with strict attention to the quality of the sand, but nevertheless, as has already been mentioned here many times, it is an unnecessary operation like no other. Not only does it do nothing to solve the problem (the fact is that it has to be done repeatedly), in addition to that, it causes incidental (but extensive) damage to marine life on the coast.
Every year the retreat of the sand occurs, which causes the beach area to continue to shrink, and each time the problem is treated by "Paracetamol" in the form of sand feeding, which is not helpful in solving it.
He has his own ways
There is a much more effective way to deal with the phenomenon - the construction of breakwaters. These will solve the retreat of the sand once and for all and at the same time will lead to the salvation of marine animals from the repeated harm caused to them time and time again. Nature has its own ways to cope and recover, but for that it needs time, which unfortunately is robbed of it every time.
Some claim that the reason for the retreat of the sand in Kiryat is the construction of the new Gulf port, but in truth - the opposite is true. Archival photos from about a decade ago and even more, show that the situation on the coasts of the Kiryat was bleak. The water was polluted and almost no life was seen in it. Precisely since the construction of the Gulf port was completed, the battered sea gradually recovered and today one can see a multitude of animals of different and varied species. Marine animals that had not been seen in it for decades, returned and filled it in recent years, a whole world grew and developed under our feet in the waters of the Ephesus, fish of various species, young and adult turtles, mammals, molluscs and much more.
If so, erecting breakwaters is not a complicated operation, and it is the only thing that will be useful in solving the problem of the retreat of the sand and on the way, just as important, will stop the repeated damage to the life under the sea surface, and will allow them to recover and prosper.
If we sum up - any intervention in nature is a huge mistake, certainly when it is carried out over and over again, as was done by feeding the sand - without allowing it to adapt and do the wonderful magic that only it knows how to do - to recover and bring life back to it, at its own pace.
We get the proof, as mentioned, in the recovery that took place on the shores of the Gulf following the construction of the new port. In its wake, we were blessed with cleaner water and slowly we saw recovery and prosperity, along with the joyful renewal of life, which until then we could only miss and imagine.
As always, the damage of the person!
It's really exciting to see amazing and illustrative photographs.
Without you, dear Moti, I would not know the sea.
What can be done about interference with the sand?
Who should I log in??
Yael He talked about the sea and described the marine animals that returned there.
My response was only intended there.
What causes the sand retreat phenomenon?
hello generation
The retreat of the sand is a decades-long process. It started with the Aswan Dam and the construction of anchored breakwaters along Israel's coasts, and not because of the widespread opinion about sand theft.
When you look at the situation of Hadar and the lower city
When you look at the situation of Kiryat Haim and Kiryat Haim beach
When you look at the check post and Tel Hanan.
We failed.
There is no basic city building here. Basic principles of planning are not here.
Whims upon whims of politicians, industrialists and governments drunk on power and politics.
Destroy the Haifa Bay, damage everything that can be damaged by nature, crush the ground. They rushed and polluted the Kishon. They cut down every tree that could be cut down. Create a dangerous industrial desert from hell.
Kill the sands with asphalt surfaces for vehicles, for importing vehicles, for parking vehicles
They destroyed the bathing beaches and polluted the waters of the gulf, polluting the air with chemicals
Haifa Bay is hell. The most disgusting place in Israel and within it Kiryat Haim beach, the ugliest neglected and destroyed beach in our strip of beaches.
Kiryat Haim - the name became ironic. Kiryat, where is life?
To drive along the Faioz Histadrut boulevard along Kiryat Haim to see all the rows of housing and the ugly eucalyptus trees planted around, all the garbage on the sidewalks and cheap kiosks.
A fourth world country.
Hello Yael
You are right, Kiryat Haim is very neglected and there are places that resemble refugee camps.
Any tree cutting in Haifa Bay is simply stupidity, in a place where there are so many factories that do not cut down trees that absorb carbon dioxide.
And it is true that Kiryat Haim beach looks very bad.
Mainly with sukkah number one which has been neglected for years, and is not staffed.
Personally, I would give this beach a score of 1
And that's too much.
But in my pursuit of sea research, the sea itself is clean and life has returned until the next feeding.
Thank you very much
Wow you just made me want to be there with you…
Who wants to be there?
I feel like throwing up walking around Kiryat Haim's Slamville.
Crumbling tenements full of Soviet scoundrels who came to die here
And next to them the population that didn't have time to escape accidentally died in time
There are those who eat sea creatures... so for them I have a message: because of fish foods, women have miscarriages and many people have poisoning
An interesting, engaging article full of new things, well done!
