(haipo) - The streets of the new neighborhood in Haifa "Singing Hill", the municipality decided to give the names of famous Israeli singers and musicians, some of whom have already left our world and left behind their glorious cultural and musical heritage, and some of them are alive (in good health and in peace, we hope) working and performing, of which there are some who were present at the dedication ceremonies of the street named after them, such as Jordana Arzi, Yohoram Gaon and the creator and composer Efi Netzer.
Singer of wars and peace
One of the singers who was not allowed to be present at the dedication ceremony of the street named after her, is the late Yaffe Yarkoni, one of the greatest Israeli singers since the founding of the state, who was nicknamed the "war singer", which she did not like.
It is not clear when exactly the street sign for Yarkoni was established in Givat Zemar, but what is known is that in the last few days sharp-eyed residents (and with impressive knowledge, it must be said) noticed that something on the sign did not add up... on the sign it is stated that the late Yarkoni lived between The years 1923 and 2006, when in fact the correct years are 1925-2012.
Whose years are these??
A quick check revealed the source of the error - the years stated on the sign are the years of none other than Yarkoni's "eternal rival" (or at least that's what was said in those days), the late singer Shoshana Demari.
The rumor about the embarrassing (and somewhat amusing) mistake spread like wildfire and gained momentum in the networks and the media. We live here and contacted the Haifa municipality to get their response on the matter, but in the meantime, as it turned out to us, the municipality wasted no time and rushed to correct the mistake - and here now the right years of Yarkoni's life appear on the sign and everything is in place safely.
Stardust
Beautiful greenish, one of the most prominent female singers in Israel, the winner of the Israel Prize for Hebrew Singer in 1998, was associated with the period of the establishment of the state, recorded many songs that were considered assets of the Iron Sheep in Israeli culture and was a great success. Yarkoni was born on 24/12/1925 and died on 1/1/2012, at the age of 86.
Shoshana Demari She was also one of the greatest and most successful of Israel's female singers in those years when many of her songs were hits with the Hebrew singer. Demari was born on 31/3/1923 and died on 14/2/2006, at the age of 82.
Either way, the two singers left behind an impressive Israeli cultural heritage, their songs and voices accompany us even today, during the days of the "Iron Swords" war, and it is assumed that this will be the case for many years to come.
Haifa Municipality has not yet given a response.
Her rival?
What is this chatter?
You know what's even more embarrassing?
which is called Yafa in English
But someone decided that the way she spelled her name didn't suit them, so now it's Yaffa
There were nice singers. Not female stars, not international stars. Sing some hits. Why so many schools and streets on oil? What were they some international lift? What are female fighters who acted in defense?
They all held a microphone and sang, career. What crazy achievement did they achieve to have 50 streets in Israel named after his uncle Dotan or Uzi Hitman? What is this crazy disproportion. There are international award-winning scientists who do not have a single street named after them. There are planners who planned entire neighborhoods in this city and there is no street named after them. There are soldiers who saved dozens and hundreds of lives and paid with their lives. The strangest thing is that there are dear ones of the city of Haifa who contributed to this city endlessly and do not get a street named after them.
No, Yaffe Yarkoni sings a song about the War of Independence and that's it - 50 streets to her name. What did she do for Haifa? Do you live in Haifa? Did you teach in Haifa? Does she have any connection to Haifa at all? What's going on here?!
I don't remember that they were rivals, I think you are confusing Jordana Erzi and Ofra Haza.
Super innocent mistake in my opinion. New sign and everything is in order. Not a big deal.
Just shows that there is no supervision. It is desirable and required before assembling a sign that you perform an inspection and verification.
