Preparing for extreme scenarios: personal ceramic vests will protect the volunteers and help them provide quick treatment • Rescue Union in Haifa ► Watch

(Live here with lifeguards) - In the protected command room of the Rescue Union, somewhere in Haifa, last night (Sun. 11/8/24) in the evening hours, dozens of volunteers of the Rescue Union, who deal with saving lives as a matter of routine, gathered.

This evening is a special evening, the excitement in the small hall is at its peak, as Ihud Hatzla received ceramic vests, personalized and embroidered for each volunteer. The vests protect the bodies of the volunteers from gunfire and missile shrapnel and also contain all the essential equipment for saving lives, for quick retrieval. We were with them at the event and were excited along with the volunteers. The donation, by the way, amounts to 50 thousand dollars.

The volunteers stood next to their vests and learned about the special cells, which contain state-of-the-art life-saving equipment. Doron explained about the equipment and clarified essential points for saving lives. It is important to remember that during an emergency, when the wounded are bleeding in the field, the volunteers must work as quickly as possible and under pressure, that is why practice and repeated demonstration are so important.

Naftali Rotenberg, director of the Carmel region of the Rescue Union:
"Due to the expected worsening of the security situation, we were operationally prepared ahead of time. The distribution of the operational evaluations tonight is intended to thicken the professional tools at the disposal of the dedicated volunteers, so that they can save human lives in the safest and most professional way. As part of the preparedness for the worsening of the security situation, branch meeting points have been established for various scenarios, including a situation in which there will be a collapse of cellular and communication systems and it will not be possible to communicate with the national headquarters of the organization. These points will be the first assembly points to which the units will arrive and from which they will go on missions to save human lives.'
