Again suspicion of arson - this time in an underground parking lot in a residential complex in Haifa

(haipo) - Fear that we are at the beginning of a wave of arson - Vehicles caught fire tonight (between Tuesday and Wednesday 7/8/24) in a parking lot under a residential building on Ha'il Street in the Bat Galim neighborhood and the fire fighters and rescue teams took quick action. During the complex event, the fighters were engaged in putting out a vehicle that was emitting smoke. The fighters warned the tenants and ordered them to lock themselves in the apartments and managed to evacuate a pregnant woman with rescue masks. In view of the danger and the assessment that it was arson, Israeli police investigators are also on the scene.
The investigation officer of the fire station in Haifa arrived at the scene and determined that apparently arson led to the fire in the parking lot.

Israel Fire and Rescue reported to Lai Pa:

Tonight, many calls began to be received at the 102 hotline of the Hoof District about smoke entering the houses in a residential complex on Ha'il Street in Haifa, the hotline operators launched the fire fighters and began giving instructions to the frightened residents to shut down so that they would not be harmed by the smoke.

The shift commander Rabbi Reshef Eitan Ripa:

"Already when we arrived we realized that this was a complex event and that we would need several teams to operate on the spot. This is a shared parking lot in a complex of four tall buildings of 8 stories each and dozens of tenants who are trapped in their apartments due to the fire and smoke.

We acted in two main efforts:
The first focused on contact with the burning vehicle, extinguishing the fire and releasing the smoke from the parking lot.
Another effort was in front of the tenants in the apartments, making sure there were no casualties in the houses and releasing the smoke that climbed into the stairwells."

Deputy Tafser Kafir Janach arrived at the scene of the event - the deputy commander of the Haifa station who took command of all the divisions:
"Thanks to an understanding of the complexity of the event, a quick response, the launching of many teams, professional action and great resourcefulness of the firefighters in the face of the fire, no one was hurt, and this despite the great danger that lurked due to the amount of smoke that reached the houses."

Although no one was injured, during the incident the fire fighters managed to reach a pregnant woman through the 102 call center who complained about the effect of the smoke entering her apartment.

The investigation officer of the Haifa station is also at the scene and together with the Israel Police investigators are investigating the circumstances that led to the fire breaking out in the parking lot.

  2. Everything begins and ends with the lack of deterrence caused by the judicial system and the non-enforcement of the law in the country.
You see it in all directions. There is simply no deterrence, and there is a jungle.
We need a very comprehensive legal reform and drastic measures.
