The Delphis Association informed Hai Pa News Corporation:
Following the receipt of a reliable report on Friday 2/8/24 about a seal sighting in the Haifa area - Delphis researchers call on the general public to be vigilant, and in the event of a sighting to immediately photograph the animal and report it by calling 050-3225227 or the reporting system on the Delphis website.
The report delivered to the Delphis researchers by Dr. Yaniv Levy, director of the sea turtle rescue center at the Nature and Parks Authority, came from Dr. Yotam Ayalon (a veterinarian by profession), who was surfing in the Bat Galim area at the same time. to Israel, spoke with Dr. Ayalon for the purpose of verifying the information.
This report came about two weeks after a report received in Delphis about an unconfirmed sighting in the area of Rosh Hankara. The previous observation in our area was in Ashdod, at the end of last November, and was preceded by an observation in Herzliya, about two weeks before that.
What do you do when you see a seal? Delphis researchers mention:

- Take pictures (from a distance and without using flash). It is advisable to shoot both in stills and in video.
- Report to Delphis at 050-3225227 or to the Nature and Parks Authority at *3639.
- If the seal is on the beach, keep curious people and dogs away from the place (tie them on a leash), keep quiet and do not point flashlights at the animal.
- Thank you for the opportunity to be part of a rare and exciting event!
