(haipo) - The heavy disaster that befell the northern Druze village of Majdal Shams in the Golan, a gap in the heart of the community, a deep wound and unimaginable pain. In the midst of the terror the villagers found themselves in, a system of aid and donations was quickly established for them, which works in every possible way to give them everything they need in their difficult moments. We spoke with the initiator of the aid system, Wisam Gutani, a journalist and media person from Isfaia.
Families of the wounded arrived in Haifa
Gutani tells Lehi Fe that following the disaster in the Golan last night (Saturday 27/7/24), many families of the wounded arrived in Haifa, and their children were brought to Rambam Hospital for treatment. "I immediately thought of setting up a volunteering and fundraising system, since the families come from far away and will need assistance with transportation, lodging and disposable products, such as towels, clothes, etc.
"I opened a WhatsApp group that filled up within a few hours, and I have already opened another group. Currently there are over 125 volunteers from the settlements of Usfia, Dalit Al Carmel and Shafaram, who show solidarity and enormous devotion to their brothers in Majdal Shams. All of them mobilized with a large heart and true love to help in different ways - From collecting donations of clothing, disposable products and food, to organizing transportation, accommodation and more.
Businessmen, restaurant owners and companies also mobilized. In all the terrible darkness, this mobilization, in such a short time, warms the heart."
Gutani says that the residents spare no effort to help in any way and feel that the pain is not only the property of those who were directly affected, but the property of all of us, and that our strength is in uniting together and in support, because that is the only way we can overcome the heavy crisis.
"In these difficult moments, we remember that the true strength of a community is measured not only in normal times, but especially in times of distress. The extensive assistance and love directed towards Majdal Shams prove that unity and humanity are our greatest strength. In the darkness there is also a light of hope, that lights the way to better days."

Donate blood - a special donation following the disaster in the Golan - Sunday 28/7/24
MDA will hold a special blood donation today, Sunday 27/7/24, in Dalit El Carmel, from 15:00 PM to 21:30 PM.
Following the direct attack on Majdal Shams - MDA's blood services will hold a special blood donation today (Sun. 28/7/24) in Dalit al-Carmel between the hours of 15:00 PM and 21:30 PM
MDA's blood services call on the public, especially those with type O blood of all types, to come and donate blood.
During the direct attack on the soccer field in Majdal Shams, in which 12 children and boys who were playing on the soccer field were murdered and dozens more were injured, MDA's blood services provided the hospitals with about 100 doses and blood components.
Due to the significant need for blood and as part of emergency preparedness and maintaining the blood supply required for emergency and routine functioning, MDA calls on the public to come and donate blood at the Community Lottery Center in Dalit Al-Karmel.
It is important to remember that there is no substitute for blood and that each dose of blood can help save the lives of three sick and injured people who need blood transfusions. People with type O blood make up 35% of all blood donors in Israel and are considered universal blood donors - since the donated blood can be given to anyone who needs a blood transfusion to save their life, even when an urgent blood transfusion is needed, without knowing the patient's blood type.
Blood donation will take place today (Sunday 28/7/24) from 15:00 PM to 21:30 PM, at the Community Lottery Center in Dalit Al-Carmel.
The MDA calls on the public to continue donating blood during the week as well. It is recommended to make an appointment to donate on the MDA website and it is recommended to fill out the donor questionnaire received on the cell phone before arriving.
You don't need to bring food to the Druze in the Golan, but they don't eat two, they aren't poor and needy, they don't need basic products like in the picture, they just need security and peace from the war.
