(haipo) - Documentation - Nine months after the disaster that befell us, I felt obliged to come to Bari to try to feel and document the tragedy that the people of Bari experienced on the seventh of October. I arrived at Kibbutz Tuama with Rabbi Bari, and on the long-awaited day, he was waiting for me at the Yuval gate, who accompanied me throughout the entire powerful and shaking tour. In the article I will share some of the sights and descriptions from that cursed day, which I was exposed to on the tour.

"The Sukkot holiday - time stood still"

The tour began in the "Vineyard neighborhood" adjacent to the kibbutz fence. What stood out to me was the fact that the electric gate, through which the Hamas terrorists penetrated, remained intact, without any signs of fire or explosion.
It was explained to me that the reason why the gate remained intact is simple: the terrorists who entered the kibbutz had the code to open the electric gate.
I felt a pinch in my heart!
Walking along the paths of the vineyard neighborhood revealed to my eyes the devastation and destruction wrought by the monsters.
Sukkots erected by the residents during the 2023 Feast of Suvat, stand as a silent witness in the gardens of the houses, as if time has stood still.

The dissonance of spirit versus matter - life versus death

I walked between the houses of the vineyard neighborhood. The feeling was only one - holocaust!
The houses are completely burned, total destruction and the sense of horror is still in the air. The senses perceive the smell and color of the soot that is still present in the space of the rooms.

A great distress took over me in view of the abysmal contradiction visible in all corners of the house. Children's books and dusty wooden blocks sit alone, among broken and burnt metal fragments as if shouting at me "How did this happen? How is it possible? Why? Where was everyone? Why did you leave us to our fate?"

The household items are chilling evidence of the complete life that was here

The lives of entire families that were cut short like that on the cursed day of October 7.10.2023, XNUMX. I make my way very carefully among the many books placed at the entrance of the house and my eyes catch the book "Land of Zevat Halav". The thoughts running through my mind, "This is not real, we are in the land of bloodshed".

By the side of the house stood a piano that was partially burnt, sooty and dusty. A piano that symbolizes the spirit of culture, creativity and life in front of the fragments of the material, the shingles of the house scattered everywhere, the burnt walls, soot and death.
At the entrance to another house, a metal skeleton stands in front of him, which was once a scooter, used by the members of the house, another evidence of the horrors that took place in Bari - life versus death.
I felt a punch in my stomach.

The testimony of Lior Alon, a resident of Kibbutz Bari:

During my visit I met Lior Alon, a resident of the kibbutz who was there in real time and experienced the inferno together with his family members. Lior asked me to come with him to his house to share with me the traumatic experience he went through.

Lior Alon tells Lahi here: "On the morning of Black Saturday, there were an unusual number of alarms. As usual, I was in no hurry to enter the emergency room. Out of the corner of my eyes I suddenly saw a figure in spotted clothes standing in front of me. In my mind I did not imagine that it was a terrorist. I thought Tommy was a soldier from an elite unit. When I saw that he was shooting at the houses and we smelled the burning of my neighbors' houses, we locked ourselves in the MMD.

Within a few minutes we heard a huge amount of terrorists walking around the neighborhood and shouting in Arabic. The terrorists entered the house and tried to open the door of the police station. For many hours I held the door handle and prevented the terrorists from opening it. (Alon demonstrates to me how I held the handle).

The terrorists set our house on fire. To prevent the smoke from entering the MMD, we wet the rags in the room with the urine we made and attached them to the bottom of the door. At some point it became quiet in the house and we realized that the terrorists decided to leave the house and did not try to break the door anymore. A great miracle happened to me and my family because the terrorists did not fire a single shot Towards the door. On the other hand, all the neighbors around me, most of them were murdered in cold blood!
We stayed inside the HMM for sixteen hours until the soldiers arrived and rescued us."

Nine months after the massacre

Nine months after the horrible massacre and Kibbutz Bari are a silent witness to the horror of everything that happened there.
Every house in the kibbutz has an interior. The names of the murdered and kidnapped people who were taken from that house are indicated on the doors of the house.

101 murdered, 30 kidnapped, 31 martyrs of the security system

The houses serve as living tombstones for the dear families who were abandoned to their fate that fateful morning.
101 civilians were murdered in Bari, 30 were kidnapped to Gaza and 31 security personnel were killed in the fighting in the kibbutz.
There will be no revival without the return of all the abducted and the abducted, because if there are no them, there is no us.

  1. Dear Dror, Thank you for the moving article you wrote. The pictures illustrate more than a thousand words the disaster and horror that the residents of Bari went through. And by the way, not many people know that all the letters from the banks in Israel, the government ministries, and all the regulators, the printing house of Kibbutz Bari was responsible for printing them. (His name appeared small and modestly at the edge of the page). As of today, we know that one of the most important things for Barry's friends was to immediately restore their printing house.
So again, thank you for the article and especially for the photos.

    • I did try to reflect what my eyes saw through the writing and the pictures.
      Thank you dear Orna.

  2. I thought you went to Otef to absorb impressions from evil. Massabar that you traveled to attack Netanyahu. Too bad…

    • Miri advises you to concentrate mainly and not on the therapist.
The article talks about the most terrible disaster that happened to our country on October 7 since its foundation.

  3. The scroll was closed on the idea of two states for two peoples.
A laboratory for peace in the Gaza Strip, a wholesale relinquishment of legal Jewish settlements that were there, and the provision of all possible aid to the Gazans produced this monster.
It's chilling to try to think if they had an entire country, what would be left of all the Jewish settlements that the murderers would have managed to reach.
    were you won't be

    • Hi Kobe.
I understand from your words that you would like and would be happy to establish "legal Jewish settlements" within the Gaza Strip and maybe even live there.
      Is there a Kobe mode?

    • I hope it is clear to you, Eliezer, who is responsible for the failure.

  4. Well done Dror.
    A shocking article.
As usual, you again brought the pictures that put us in the mood.
In my opinion, this evidence must be left as a museum as it appears in the photos and in your fascinating article.

    • Hi David, thank you very much for the support. A tour of Otef these days is certainly shocking and chilling in view of the sights that remain as living monuments. I recommend to every Israeli to go to the Ra'im parking lot area, the Hatakum parking lot to feel a little what the innocent residents who woke up on the holiday of Sukkot went through in a holocaust.

  5. Dror, a strong photographic article with powerful images. Thanks for sharing and documenting. May everyone return home soon

    • It was extremely important to me to document and share accurately.
      thanks for the compliment.

  6. Thank you very much for an exciting article accompanied by photos illustrating the terrible day. I liked your closing words, "If there is no them, there is no us".

    • Chen Chen Ronit. Indeed, without the return of all the abductees there will be no resurrection.

  7. What did we want?
quiet life Raise our children in the shade of coexistence. Occasionally travel abroad or in Israel.
And when we looked every day in the direction of the Gaza Strip, it looked very pastoral.
But, beyond the fence grew a monster that the government fed with millions of dollars. grew and grew until it exploded on us. And for our children and along the way finally imitates our dreams.

    • Doron Kibbutznik is definitely misleading.
Walking in the areas of the kibbutz lawns gives a pastoral and peaceful feeling, but beyond the fence grew bloodthirsty barbarians, they slaughtered us indiscriminately.

  8. There are no words, nor will there be, and there are still those who refuse to take responsibility and realize it.

    • Avinoam, definitely chilling and shaking. It is mandatory for every Israeli to come to Otef.

  9. This is a religious war... Israel must control Arab education! Teach liberalism and the separation of religion from the state! According to Or and former rabbi Yaron Yedan
