(live here in the sea) - Today, Friday, 19/7/04, at noon, the police station received an urgent call about a surfer who is in danger in the middle of the sea. The maritime police officers in the coastal district, who are known for their high preparedness for unusual events especially in the summer months, immediately went to the scene of the incident. The surfer, a resident of Haifa in his forties, went out to sea from the Bat Galim beach area and is far from the beach, unable to return to a safe place.
The sport of wing foil is gaining momentum in Haifa, since the surfing conditions in front of the Bat Galim promenade are the best in Israel, when the wind is west and southwest.
The wind blew today at a speed of 15 knots from the southwest and the surfer was swept into Haifa Bay. The marine police officers, in their professional and quick work, located the surfer and in a short time managed to move him to a safe place. From there he was taken for a medical examination to verify his well-being.
Vigilance and quick mobilization - a daily routine
The residents of Haifa and the surrounding area know that they can count on the maritime police and their ability to respond quickly and efficiently in emergency situations. Today's event highlights the importance of vigilance and quick response in such cases, and the great value of the presence of the police at sea.
Many thanks to the maritime police for their important part in protecting the surfers in these cases.
