Haifa - The new Israeli airline "Air Haifa" announces the receipt of its first aircraft at Haifa International Airport at the end of July 2024. Last steps before starting commercial flights

The company is currently in the final stages of obtaining the operational operating license, when the completion of the process is expected during the coming month of September. After receiving the license, "Air Haifa" will start selling tickets and operate commercial flights from Haifa International Airport to Eilat and other destinations in the Mediterranean basin.

Gonen Osishkin, CEO and founding partner of "Air Haifa", says:

We are very excited for the arrival of the first "Air Haifa" plane to Israel. This is the first Israeli airline to be established since the 90s and we are proud to be the first commercial airline in the country's history to base its operations at Haifa International Airport

Contributes to the local economy and society

Especially in this challenging period of fighting in the north, the establishment of "Air Haifa" is considered an important and significant step for the Haifa region and the north. The company's activity is expected to contribute to strengthening the local economy and creating new jobs. In addition, the company will provide air connectivity to the residents of the north and contribute to the tourism development of the region.

The founders of the company

"Air Haifa" was established by a group of Israeli entrepreneurs headed by Nir Tzuk, founder of the "Palo Alto Networks" company, Gonen Osishkin, Lior Yavor and Miki Strasburger, former El Al executives. The company aims to offer high-frequency flights throughout the year at affordable and competitive prices, while ensuring comfort and safety.

Receiving the first plane

The first aircraft in the Air Haifa fleet will be delivered to the company's management in Toulouse, from the French-Italian manufacturer ATR, jointly owned by the Airbus concern and the Leonardo Group. During the coming months, the company will receive two additional aircraft of this model, which will be used to operate its commercial flights.

  1. Strong and courageous... Kudos to the company that initiated such a move... There are simply no words to thank them... You brought us out of darkness into the light... How fun it is to be able to fly from Haifa and not go through the nightmare called Ben Gurion....I and my whole family are impatiently waiting to fly with you....a huge thank you to all those involved in this holy work....

  2. All past attempts show that it is not profitable to operate a small field with a small number of flights per day, neither for the companies that fly nor for airport management.
Gone are the days of the village and the field town. For any city in the world, including much smaller ones than Haifa, that want to develop the metropolitan and rural area around them, the first thing is to invest in an international field that meets the requirements. This is also how we do it in Eilat.
Haifa longs for an international field and with it all its space, from the Upper Galilee to Hadera.
Everyone is interested in traveling half an hour to the airport in Haifa, to have a schedule with at least 20-30 flights, a large and modern terminal, commercial areas, airport hotels, and the feeling that the north has a real and active international airport.
It is no longer possible to engrave us with the existing toy-of-the-field.

  3. Let's hope they don't try to be pigs on the price.
If they are fair and efficient they will succeed in a big way.
There is a huge potential to take out flights for ranges of up to 3 hours of flight.

  4. A year ago I flew to Cyprus from Haifa, two hours from the moment I left my house in Ramat HaTshebi, I landed in Paphos, Cyprus, it's good that it's back again

  5. A small and non-standard plane. Until they expand the runway and enlarge the Netbag complex, there will remain a central flight path for routine flights. Haifa port is good for flights to individual destinations.

    • Say thank you to Yona Yahav who managed to open the airport in half a year, something that Einat Kalish did not do in 5 years

  6. Wait wait with the festival...we'll see the prices

Like what happened in the past to Cyprus and Greece that the flight from Haifa cost much more than flying from Tabeg... why???
After all, the flight from Haifa is shorter, so less jet fuel, so why bother us!!!

    • The operators want to take all the savings of the flights on fuel and parking to Tel Aviv. In the end, they are left with the same total price as the flight from Tel Aviv and only benefit from the time savings.

  7. Finally, maybe a competition will be opened here for the benefit of the residents in the north-Arkaia-Israel-Rami Levy-Sun-Dor-foreign companies-go ahead-maybe we will see flight prices of 50-70 dollars to Greece, Cyprus-Eilat

  8. Congratulations. A flight to Cyprus or the Greek islands will be much shorter without the procedures and arrival times in Ben Gurion.

  9. Welcome to operating the airport in Haifa and operating flights in Israel and Europe. Will there be flights to Italy from Haifa?

  10. A. A serious airline cannot rely on one plane. Let's say it crashes, you're gone and there aren't even other companies in the field that will offer alternative flights or flights close to the destination.
Such a company needs at least 3 planes.
    B. Also in terms of the airport, no field including inspection, transportation, controllers, security, cleaning, counters, stores - will not work for 4-5 flights a day with 450 passengers. This is not a joke, this is a bad joke. It makes no economic or transportation sense.
The time has come for a second international airport in Israel and it must serve the 3 million residents of the north and even 4 million from the Sharon north. The time has come to end the monopoly of NetBag and establish in Haifa runways for landing wide-body aircraft of all sizes from the sea, and establish a terminal that can receive up to 10 million passengers a year.
    Everything else is eye catching.

    • This is the first of three planes.
There will undoubtedly be more companies
It will save Haifa and Crete 4 hours there and 3 hours in the return direction.

    • If you had read the article to the end... you would have found out that the company will have three planes, according to the "operator's license" requirements the company must have at least two planes, but it is typical for Israelis not to read to the end, like assembly instructions on an IKEA table....

  11. All the best to Einat Kalish, thanks to her and thanks to Nachshon and other partners, they practically lifted the flights! Good luck 🙏

  12. A little forgotten detail...
Haifa's airport was almost eliminated to make room for the operation of the Chinese port.
Thanks to Einat Klish's firm stand against the interests who tried to take over the area, the field was saved and will be able to develop in the future into an international field for medium-sized aircraft that will be able to reach most of Europe.
    Thank you Einat (-:

  13. In the recent past, flights to Cyprus and Greece operated without "noise and bells" meanwhile time passes (there will be no flights before September) and there are no flights there are only headlines - a party from every piston plane - the most peripheral there is.

    • This is not a piston plane, but a turboprop, a jet engine rotating a mechanical transmission that drives a propeller (propeller) a new plane, economical in fuel and relatively quiet, less noisy than pipers that will soon arrive from Herzliya

    • You are 100 percent right, this is like a Yemeni step - celebrating the regression.
We are in 2024, every metropolitan city of a million inhabitants in the world has a normal airport.
And here there is some toy of a story.. it's sad.
Already in the late 90s, the state recognized the need for an international field in Haifa as a priority national project.
It's just embarrassing now to celebrate us for an extension of 300 meters and a single plane of 70 seats.

    • Almost a thousand planes of this model are operated by about 80 companies
And a thousand from the similar model of a competing company...

  14. All the best, you went up and succeeded, may you grow and grow bigger wings to more and more destinations. Have a pleasant flight.
