Today in the morning (Mon. 08/07/24) a significant meeting was held in Haifa Municipality between the Minister of Transportation and Road Safety, Brigadier General (resp.) Miri Regev, and the Mayor of Haifa, Yona Yahav. The meeting was held with the aim of promoting a series of transportation projects in the city and improving the state of the infrastructures. The mere holding of the meeting and the setting of common goals, mark a departure in everything related to the cooperation between the Ministry of Transportation and the Haifa Municipality, under the leadership of Yona Yahav.
The topics that came up in the meeting:
Support for canceling the toll in the Carmel tunnels
The Ministry of Transportation supports the abolition of the toll in the Carmel tunnels, and has committed to contacting the Ministry of Finance together with the municipality to promote the issue.
Connecting Haifa to the south and center
Haifa is an important city with significant transportation assets and action must be taken to connect Haifa to the south and the center.
Subsidence of coastal railways
Minister Regev clarified the ministry's support for sinking the coastal railways, so that in the future they will not form a buffer for the seashore and will not harm nature, but emphasized the importance of electrifying the railways as a national project.
Lighting the coastal road from Hadera to Haifa
Nissim Peretz, CEO of Natibi Israel, announced that Natibi Israel will fund the project to light the coastal road from Hadera to Haifa, following the request of the Mayor of Haifa, Yona Yahav.
Yona Yahav thanked the CEO of Peretz and said: "This is about correcting a historical injustice that will increase the sense of security and safety on this section of road, which is in terms of a 'ticking bomb' that could cost human lives. It is not possible that the main road leading from Hadera to Haifa is not lit while other sections of it, from the city of Netanya to the south, are lit throughout."
Establishing a forum to promote transportation projects
It was agreed with the mayor to establish a forum with all the relevant parties led by the Director General of the Ministry of Transportation, with the aim of formulating solutions and reaching agreements with the municipality as soon as possible and promoting the project that will connect Haifa to the south and the center.
The launch of the airline "Air Haifa" • The first flight on July 28, 2024
Regev announced that the new airline "Air Haifa" will inaugurate its first flight on the 28th of this month, and is expected to serve about 2 million passengers a year. In this framework, the minister instructed to promote public transportation solutions and parking lots near the port for the benefit of the traveling public.
Promotion of additional matron lines
Another important issue raised at the meeting was the establishment of additional metro lines in the city, which will serve the residents of Haifa and improve public transportation.
The words of the mayor of Haifa, Yona Yahav
The Mayor of Haifa, Yona Yahav, expressed his gratitude to the Minister of Transportation for her visit and emphasized the importance of cooperation with the Ministry of Transportation to promote transportation projects in the city.
List of goals and promises for action:
- Canceling the toll in the Carmel tunnels
- Connecting Haifa to the south and center
- Subsidence of coastal railways
- Lighting the coastal road from Hadera to Haifa
- Establishing a forum to promote transportation projects
- The launch of "Air Haifa" airline
- Promotion of additional matron lines
- Improving pedestrian safety in urban infrastructure
The meeting was attended by:
Mayor Yona Yahav, CEO of the Haifa Municipality Gadi Margalit, Yaniv Ben Shoshan, MK Ariel Kellner, CEO of the Ministry of Transportation and Road Safety, Moshe Ben Zaken, CEOs of the Ministry's infrastructure companies and the senior leadership of the Ministry of Transportation.
Cheers for cooperation in matters for the benefit of the residents of Haifa.
What happens with transportation on Shabbat, the cable car, etc... I didn't see this in the conversation summary, why?
I don't care what you say .. I'm madly sick of Miri
What did the mayor promise the suspect in Regev crimes? And what did the Regev criminal suspect promise him in return? That's what I would like to know.
Noga Carmi
Aren't these projects that Einat Kalish achieved without hypocritically smiling at Miri Regev, and Yona flaunts them as his achievements?
Why despise the cliche for these achievements and present them as a failure?
What has changed?
I did not see at the meeting the deputy mayor and the holder of the planning, construction and development portfolio Ms. Attorney Sharit Golan? Was she hiding behind the CEO's broad shadow?
This is because this meeting has no meaning and nothing came of it.
All the best to Miri and Leona.
Finally there is a real and functioning mayor!
- Glad to hear that one of the goals is the cancellation of the unnecessary tax on the residents of Haifa.
- It is sad that there is no talk of a bicycle path on Route 4, between Haifa and Atlit.
- Through the Kings, Independence Street is used as a congested main artery almost at all hours of the day, it would be advisable to start
A move in front of the Ministry of Transportation to bridge the entire street until the connection to Highway 22 bypassing Kiryat.
Say are you sane?
Tel Aviv Municipality blew up the Maariv Bridge and is only taking down destructive bridges in the heart of the city to return it to pedestrians and improve the quality of life in the city center. And what you are proposing to Haifa are delusional ideas to destroy the downtown with more bridges and interchanges.
When will you realize that this is not the solution. More downhill roads. More exchanges. More parking lots. More bridges.
It just destroyed Haifa. 70 years of transportation destruction instead of efficient and convenient public transportation.
Why in the late 50's did Father Khushi realize that Carmelit was needed and you are talking about bridges for more traffic jams?? If so, you would suggest charging the same toll as the tunnels from every truck that passes on Hatzamut Street, I would support it.
It makes no sense to blame the Zitons on Miri Regev. This woman is involved in crimes and will end up in prison in Faina Kirschenbaum's cell.
It is worth noting that no indictment has yet been filed against Miri Regev, and even in Mapai's Bolshevik system of injustice and its legal stronghold, a person has the presumption of innocence as long as he has not been convicted and certainly as long as he has not been accused of anything.
I suggest you separate the confusion of the eggs of channels 12-13 from the reality because the distance is increasing.
The minister is smiling, the unprofessional CEO she appointed is smiling, and hundreds of Israelis are losing their lives when there is no traffic police, no enforcement, the authority to fight road accidents is paralyzed.
And here is the horrifying figure: as of July 8.7.2024, 23, a 2023% increase in the number of deaths since the beginning of the year compared to the corresponding figure in XNUMX:
242 deaths in road accidents, compared to 197 in 2023.
Since the beginning of July, 10 Israelis have been killed on the roads.
In June, 39 Israelis were killed on the roads.
In May, 45 Israelis were killed on the roads.
Record numbers that have never been seen in Israel in one month. A murderous jungle on the roads.
Shame on those who take pictures with the representatives of this government.
home Election now. Let them take responsibility for the crucifixion, their inciting division and where they have brought us. shame. Thanks to the protests, we did not completely become a dictatorial Halacha state. Contempt of people
Right.
Because in practice Yahav helped Mrs. Regev "cleanse" herself of the investigation (the proven and documented fact that for unknown reasons does not go to court).
And there is really nothing in the hollow talk surrounding the very unflattering picture (even conceptually).
Nothing came out of it except the ambition of "honoring the minister" for political advancement
In order to encourage the airport, parking will be carried out at the port...
Later, in order to illuminate the coastal road, they will surely install mirrors to project sunlight. It is especially effective in the dark hours.
Let's start small. Why don't the buses in the Independence Square drive on the Hanetz and stand in traffic jams. A dream city
very simple
Shocking picture, did Yahav also join the carbon and corruption?! Did someone tell Regev that there are no diamonds in Haifa?
Haifa is one big diamond, and without looking
To the first question - probably yes.
To the second question - probably not.
Really a shame
Miri the stunning and charming who never stops doing for the public in equal measure
"without any politics"
love very much
Jewish nation
The most important thing is to remove the vegetation that scratches cars and plugging the potholes that destroy the axles.
Will there be one more idiot left in the country who believes the lies it spreads?
I believe they came to talk and evacuate Kiryat Haim and Kiryat Shmuel so that they have more room for containers and new cars that arrive at the Indian port and the Chinese port, really bankruptcy
The lighting of the coastal road... and what about road six - the section from Meiron to Ein Tut is also narrower - 2 lanes and not 3-4 like the rest of the road, it is also not lit and costs more for every kilometer - the northern periphery that starts in Hadera is not of interest to the Israeli government
Does not belong to Haifa
The Carmel tunnels were established with a contract with the state for a certain revenue threshold. Even if one vote does not pass, the state is obligated to supplement the income of the tunnels. That's how a contract is.
But populist statements don't cost money
They probably don't need any thought or commitment beyond the next election date, because the laying of the track will only result in the elimination of an obstacle to the rise of the sea level as a result of a tsunami (more is expected in our lifetime) and even so, the state has no money now, so everything can be guaranteed.
Sorry, I lost faith.
We also received a lot of promises from previous ministers of transport and finance, most of them turned out to be promises on ice. Any such promise must have budgetary backing, change of decisions that have already passed in the planning administration and other prioritization... In the current situation it is difficult to expect that there will be a significant positive shift for the benefit of Haifa's interests and apart from temporary headlines, it is not clear if we will actually receive anything real...
Do you know how much ice costs these days?
I don't know what is acceptable in such meetings. I read in the article a statement of intentions without translation into money and without setting dates.
Sounds like another election campaign by both parties.
In short, nothing and nothing was achieved.
In the future there will be a recession... lol who are you working on?
More parking lots for the public at the port?! Just more traffic jams and default promotion.
