(lives here on the beaches) - The Ministry of Environmental Protection's clean beach index for June 2024 indicates an upward trend in the cleanliness of the open beaches in the north of the country. The index shows that 88% of the open beaches were rated as "very clean" or "clean", compared to 80% in the May index.
The Minister of Environmental Protection, Idit Silman, commented on the data and said:
"The sea and beaches are a valuable national asset, requiring all of us to protect them for the sake of the environment and the public. When we go to the sea, we can all enjoy the beaches without using single-use plastic, for our own benefit and for the benefit of the marine environment."
For the first time since the beginning of the year, no coastal authority was rated as dirty

Haifa's beaches were rated as "clean"
The index data shows that the coastal authorities in the north that received the highest scores include Nahariya and Jasr al-Zarqa, which were rated as "very clean". The Haifa authorities, the Carmel Castle and the Carmel Beach rated the beaches as "clean". Only a few municipalities in the north, such as Acre and Kiryat Yam, were rated "medium".

Despite the pollution - a positive trend

The management of the Cleanliness Fund approved a multi-year budget for the years 2024 to 2027 for the "Clean Beach" program at a cost of more than NIS 55 million. The budget is intended for continued budgeting The cleaning of the open beaches by the coastal authorities in the Mediterranean and the Red Sea, as well as to further strengthen the enforcement of cleanliness on the beaches, actions to remove waste from the sea, monitoring and advertising.
The year 2024 marks the 19th year of the "Clean Beach" program of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, which has been operating since 2005 with the aim of minimizing the danger of coastal and marine waste in Israel and working to clean the beaches and the sea. The program supports the coastal authorities in cleaning the open beaches in their territories and defines goals for the cleaning of the open beaches, according to which 85% of the beaches will be clean 70% of the year.
One-time? Not in my sea!
The Ministry of Environmental Protection calls on the public to refrain from bringing plastic waste to the beaches, in order to keep the beaches clean. "Disposable - not in my sea!" It is the main message that the ministry leads, with the aim of raising public awareness of cleaning the beaches and reducing the use of single-use plastic.
That way it should be more pleasant that the beach is clean
Dado Promenade looks like our troubles…
what misery
Ugly buildings. sleeping without maintenance. Disappeared beaches. Car parks in place of a wide promenade.
disgusting. A city that worships vehicles instead of people.
If the greens hadn't stopped the construction of the hotels on Meridian Beach, the boardwalk would have looked completely different!
For example, like in Tel Aviv or Eilat.
In Zeot the promenade is neglected and without tourists, for the simple reason that there are not enough hotels...
