(Hai Fe) The deputy mayor, Israel Savion, claims that the agreement signed between the Municipality of Haifa led by Kalish and the Nature and Parks Authority is not justified, since this is anyway the role of RTG by law - to deal with the phenomenon of wild pigs in general and the interface between animals and humans in general, No additional payment. For this, RTG receives state budgets and there is no need for additional payment from the property tax budget of Haifa residents, Savion explains.
Savion adds that this is a waste of property tax money and a scandalous agreement made "as a silence fee". From his examination it appears that the inspector on behalf of RTG hardly accompanies the municipality's activities on this issue.
Savion demands an end to the waste of property tax money and demand that RTG return the funds paid to it, estimated at more than a million NIS.
Copies were sent to Sophie Nakash, MM and deputy mayor and chairman of the finance committee, Lapini Wegman, council member and chairman of the welfare committee, and Gadi Margalit, the director general of the municipality.
The text of the letter that Savion sent today:
in honor of:
Mr. Yona Yahav
Mayor
The subject: a demand to immediately stop the "silence fee" to RTG (The Nature and Parks Authority).
Mr. Mayor,
I have great respect for the Nature and Parks Authority and their work 365 days a year in the State of Israel. At the same time, there is no justification to pay NIS 400 per year since August 2021 for an agreement signed between Einat Kalish and RTG regarding the treatment of the plague of wild pigs.
According to the same agreement, RTG will help the municipality keep the wild pigs away from the city limits and an inspector on its behalf will advise the municipality on the matter. In return, Klish committed to pay RTG an amount of 400,000 NIS per year.
I must point out that I am shocked by this agreement that was drawn up in a most puzzling manner, since it is by virtue of RTG's role to be a regulator in dealing with the wild boar phenomenon and there was no reason or need to pay them for what was anyway part of their role to perform as an authority and as a body budgeted by the state!
Therefore, it is a question of promiscuity of the property tax money and a scandalous agreement which was signed by Klish and which was conducted, as it seems, "as a silence fee" for the Nature and Parks Authority. Moreover, from an inspection I conducted, the Haifa municipality is apparently the only local authority in Israel that pays RTG for such a service.
According to the agreement, an inspector from RTG is supposed to accompany the municipality's activities on the subject (completely unnecessary since the municipality had the knowledge and experience).
From my inspection it appears that the inspector hardly ever accompanies teams from the municipality.
In light of all of the above, I demand an immediate stop to the waste of property tax money and demand that RTG return the tax-paying public funds that were unlawfully paid to it.
As of today, it is over NIS 1 million!
Sincerely,
Israel Savion
Deputy Mayor
and chairman of the health committee

Yona, the 90 days you promised have passed. Resign! That's what you were chosen for. You failed to realize your wonderful vision. Let me guess another 90 days won't help you either. come home
I have not yet seen a city in Israel where the pigs are citizens with equal rights. Full partners of the public treasury, receive everything they need and will soon participate in the vote to elect the mayor. The residents of Haifa are strange people who lend a hand to this farce. How lucky that I don't live in Haifa....
I saw the consultant they brought to the city council discussion.
Let's say, to put it mildly, that it is very doubtful if he really walked around the city for more than a few days at a few calls from the municipality. Most of the thinning during the Klish period was done without this consultant, or with some telephone confirmation by sending photos.
This whole thing was a fig leaf for the cliché to say that you dilute "only when there is no other choice". In the end she also had over 100 thinnings because the wild boars simply reached the size of cows and attacked with serious injuries and being involved in accidents brought millions of shekels in lawsuits against the municipality.
You will understand that it is not possible without thinning, and you don't need Reteg or Ralbag. Need to dilute.
So is my property tax necessary to raise the salary of the municipal employees??
Contaminated money is used to kill pigs and destroy nature
We need to take this money, and create closed books for wild pigs, inside or outside the city, catch and transfer all the wild pigs that are inside the city... This will both benefit the residents and the pigs themselves...
All the best to Israel Savion
for his vigilance
And a return must be demanded
all amounts paid
as a kind of silence fee
and transfer them to Holocaust survivors
who still live in Haifa...
What do you pay 400 A. NIS for RTG?? What are they doing, sending a "consultant" for pig care matters??? Either they will handle the thinning of the wild pigs from A to Z or they will let the municipality/ licensed hunters/ pig breeders/ veterinary services and others related to the issue handle them according to the instructions of the municipal veterinarian.
This is a silence fee for the Let the Lives Run Wild associations, which Klish paid to receive a fig leaf for thinning which was required by reality - then they said that the Hartge inspector 'will mark those who are already in urban territory'. Come on, everyone enters an urban area.
