"The museum comes to life" - dramatized tours of the National Maritime Museum; A digital game at the Japanese design exhibition in Tikotin; Kaleidoscope workshop and more.
Haifa museums are preparing in March for the summer months which are expected to be peak months in activities for the whole family in the various museums. During the months of July and August, there will be interactive tours, an escape game, tutorials in Hebrew and Russian at the various exhibitions, various creative workshops and more.
According to Yotam Yakir, CEO of Haifa Museums:
Recently, we renewed with fascinating exhibitions that opened at the Tikotin Museum of Japanese Art and the Herman Struck Museum, and in August a new cluster of exhibitions will also open at the Haifa Museum of Art. We always create special activities suitable for the whole family, but this summer we broke our own record, with a variety of attractions for children in all the museums. We also decided to extend the visiting hours in the museums in August and we are preparing for thousands of visitors who will have an enriching and enjoyable visit experience.
The National Maritime Museum
"The museum comes to life" - during the month of August there will be dramatized tours for the whole family, where fascinating characters will take the visitors on unique tours of the various exhibitions and share them in the play in an interactive way. The children are invited to join Amerigo Vespucci, the great navigator and discoverer, the legendary pharaonic explorer, on an adventure into the world of the museum. Together with the captain, Aryeh Yam, they will fight the sea monster that pollutes our environment and set out on a magical journey in the Mediterranean basin!
In addition, during July and August, various creative workshops will be held at the museum: creating a coral reef from ceramics (a workshop that will also be held in Russian), making a sea diorama and a plasticine sea animals workshop.
Tikotin Museum of Japanese Art
"Kiko and the tikoguchi" - a digital game that is played on a smartphone throughout the exhibition "Japanese Design Today 100", which is currently on display at the museum. Visitors must take care of Tekoguchi - Kiko's virtual pet, while completing tasks and puzzles. Those who finish the game meet Kiko with the package, find out what's inside and also get a surprise. The game is scanned in the simplest way, at no additional charge, with the help of a QR code for the smartphone.
In addition, during the summer months, various creative workshops will be held: a paper decoration workshop in honor of the Tanabata holiday, a workshop for designing a fabric bag with "shibori" dyeing, a doll wearing a kimono workshop.
Haifa Museum of Art
On 1/8/24, a new cluster of exhibitions will open in the museum, which will include 6 solo exhibitions of female artists from the northern region. During the month there will be trainings in Hebrew and Russian at the museum. In the gallery for the whole family, visitors will be invited to create collage works inspired by the exhibition of Rachel Anio, who will present an exhibition in the museum. In addition, there will be a kaleidoscope workshop, which also corresponds with Anio's works.
Also, on the mezzanine floor, visitors will be able to enjoy a digital smartphone game that takes place inside the space of the "North Wind" permanent exhibition.
Haifa City Museum
At the Haifa City Museum you can enjoy a family escape game "Mystery following the Templars". The game invites visitors to go on a family mission through the alleys of the German colony and embark on a challenging and mysterious journey. For more details and ticket purchase.

Haaretz museums are subsidized by the state. And every museum has a friends association that takes care of donations. Why do museums take money from the public for their visit?
There was an Israeli Shabbat who entered for free, ask the state why it destroys a beautiful thing that allowed many people to enjoy culture.
