(haipo) - The rate for using the Carmel tunnels is rising again. The operator of the Carmel Tunnels, the Carmelton Company, announced that as of Monday 1/7/24, the toll rate in the Carmel Tunnels will increase, in accordance with the guidelines of the concession agreement and in accordance with the linkage to the Consumer Price Index. The rate for using the tunnels, which last April was 10.15 for a private vehicle, will be 10.31 NIS starting tomorrow.
The Carmel tunnels were opened for use in 2010, at the end of a long period in which the residents of Haifa felt the construction works, which included intensive quarrying inside the tunnels and were accompanied by enormous noise and piles upon piles of dust that reached everywhere. Even then, protests began on the part of the residents about the prices of their use, and about their frequent increase in price, but to no avail.
Increase in travel fares in the tunnels - as published on the company's website

The Carmel Tunnels project, which opened to traffic in 2010, was designed, financed, established and maintained by the Carmelton Group using the BOT method, a public-private partnership method for financing a project, in which a private body (in this case Carmelton) receives a concession from a public body to finance, design, build and operate a facility public for a fixed period.
The concession period signed with the Carmelton company is spread over 35 years - 5 years of establishment and 30 years of operation. So far, 14 years have passed out of the 30 years for the tunnels to be operated by the company, so there are 16 more years left to the agreement with it, at the end of which ownership will be transferred to the state.
It should be noted that apart from the Carmel tunnels, there are other projects in Israel that were built using the BOT method, including the Trans-Israel highway, the light rail in Jerusalem, the expressway on Highway 1, and more.
It's time to fight for the children's lives.
Despite the convenience and short time to stop driving in the tunnels and switch to the public road.
to clog Haifa with cars.
There is no other way to fight swine only through the legislator.
In Jerusalem all toll roads including the tunnels are free.
in the south until the Beer Sheva exit for free.
The north, which is in a state of war, a difficult economic situation, is paying the price
Really pigs! There is no limit to greed! Every time we raise a few tens of cents more so that we don't feel ignored...
Disappointing and frustrating - I have no words 🙁
I'm yo. R does not travel in tunnels, there is no savings there, there are many alternative ways
Mr. Yona Yahav promised in the elections that travel in the tunnels would be free of charge.
So promised.
First he will take care of pigs on 4 legs... then pigs on two...
The citizens are as submissive as possible. Taxes, levies, property taxes are disrupted, authorities, various bodies in the country are taking advantage of the slumber, the small citizen has no more power, until when will the elected officials waste the rest of our money for living, quite fed up
If anything, why are there no discounts for city residents in parking lots within the city? Why did even the municipality of Lod make sure that the residents of the city do not pay for parking in the city centers for at least the first two hours, I'm not talking about Tel Aviv anymore... How did we get to a situation where some of the parking lots in Hadar cost up to NIS 80 or even more per day? Why are we North Tel Aviv? Even in Tel Aviv, people who come from outside pay less during the hours when all the parking lots are full...
In Jerusalem, the mayors make sure that all the tunnels that are built at a much higher cost than the Carmel tunnels remain in the hands of the public and are open to the public for free
In Tel Aviv, the mayors make sure that all the huge underground parking lots give discounts to the residents of Tel Aviv.
Yahav made sure that the Carmel Tunnels would not give any discount to the Haifa people by neglecting the discussions in the Finance Committee which set rates and convened without Haifa even sending a municipal representative. Yahav is the text trope and the reason for the escape of tens of thousands from Haifa.
It's a shame that you don't pay attention to what the mayor and some of his deputies promised.
that the ride in the tunnels will be free during their term.
Ruti Benin leads the Carmel tunnels protest.
What happened to you? You didn't exaggerate? It's really bothering the citizens, what will happen in the end is that most of us will cancel subscriptions and travel on regular routes, a little longer but we'll save money that way
So... poor people in Israel must borrow money and leave the country
