(haipo) - A fire broke out in an apartment in Haifa after the refrigerator motor started.
From Fire and Rescue it was delivered to Lai Pa:
A fire broke out in an apartment on Zion Street in Haifa last night (Monday 24/6/24) late in the evening (21:30 PM). The firefighters from the Haifa station, under the command of Rabbi Reshef Ronan Atias, located the source of the fire in the refrigerator engine and worked to extinguish it.

Rashef Yossi Cohen reports from the field:
"When we arrived, the owner of the house ran out of her apartment. The apartment was surrounded by smoke and after a short scan and with the help of thermal means, we located the focus in the motor of the refrigerator.
We worked to put it out and ended the event with minimal damage and no casualties."

Fire and Rescue would like to emphasize: Such a fire during sleeping hours is a danger to human life, therefore we call on the public to install a smoke detector that warns at an early stage and is proven to save lives exactly in cases like this.

Today's refrigerators use isobutane and propane gases as refrigerant, and they are known to be flammable. If the refrigerator in question uses one of them, there may have been a gas leak that caused the fire.
