Artist Rita Binaminov • An exhibition about the beauty of the city of Haifa

At the Hadar "Beitno" community center located at 29 Jerusalem St. in Haifa, a unique and beautiful photo exhibition is being held. The artist Rita Binaminov is presenting dozens of oil paintings that are all dedicated to landscapes and sites in Haifa, her beloved city.

Rita immigrated from Azerbaijan in 1994. She sees art as her calling. Even as a child, she liked to draw with a graphite pencil, but she only started drawing intensively at the age of 53.

As a child she suffered greatly from anti-Semitism from the children in her class. They bullied her everywhere, and when she dared to complain to the teachers, the students of the class took revenge on her and beat her many times.
The violence of the environment made her grow stronger in her love for Judaism and Israel.

A big change happened in her life when she immigrated to Israel and started her new life in Haifa. She discovered a new, free life and Jewish people like her. And on that occasion the beauty of the city of Haifa. These feelings gave her motivation to continue painting the city that was so kind to her.

After experimenting with different painting techniques, including water colors, gouache and acrylic, she decided to paint with oil paints which allow her to paint in a more vivid, plastic and realistic way. Several of her paintings were exhibited abroad and received great interest and she received important certificates of recognition.

Rita's paintings

In her paintings, Rita notices the beauty of the smallest details, even the most ordinary cobblestone, which we see every day, and hundreds of people step on, can hide a special beauty that Rita sees as an artist and wants to share with the whole world. And above all, she longs to share the beauty and warmth of the Land of Israel, the Holy Land, as she sees it with her own eyes!

Haifa appears in many of Rita's paintings. In her photos you can see the Baha'i Gardens, Kiryat Eliezer, Bat Galim Promenade and Utopia Garden.

A patriotic artist who loves Haifa

The curator of the exhibition Mr. Victor Lipkin from the management of the Hadar community center noted that Rita studied well the art of painting and the classical technique of Dutch painters who created wonderful works in the previous centuries. She paints in their classical style, and thus created the series "Israeli motifs" in an innovative style. Her paintings were noted To be praised at an international festival. Rita is a patriotic artist who loves Haifa and the State of Israel, a love that is reflected in her beautiful pictures.

  5. Rita, your drawings are very impressive.
It is also interesting to read the story of your life and the anti-Semitism you suffered.
By the way, my best classmate from the past came from Baku, you are lovely people and you also have a lot of beautiful culture and delicious food.
Nice to read that you are patriotic and love Israel.
The story of your life proves how much we need our country and even more (in my opinion) how important the nationality law enacted by our prime minister is.
Unfortunately, I read some of the comments posted by the author of this article and by other commenters who probably support the protests against the government from the not-too-distant past.
For example, the comments on this website in the article about the Horev center and the Horev demonstrations on 09/06/24 and I was disappointed that there are people who hold such political views and what they call our excellent Prime Minister.

  6. Thank you very much Naftali for the very moving article.
